Good tactics on the open field and during siege?

Sergeant at Arms
Well I wanted to ask you about any good tactics on the open field and during the siege (while I am defending the castle)

Until now, I used a this tactic:
I mostly use mounted units (mamelukes, knights..) and I order them to follow me some time until we break the enemy line, then I order them to charge...

During the siege:
I can't say I have exact tactic, so I need help in this..

Field battle - 100% heavy cavalry, just order them to follow you and spread a bit, then just go towards enemy and charge until you win.
Effective even against marshal with lords.

Siege defence - Vaegir marksmen will have best damage per second and Rhodok sergeant are best at their tier, just put marksmen above infantry so there will be more archers since beggining.

Siege attack - Around 30 of Rhodok sharpshooters, they are deadeyes wiping out enemy troops and with player help(xbow or bow) you can very easily clean walls from enemy archers/xbowmen decreasing greatly infantry casulaties. The rest of army should be best infantry you can get - preferably huscarls and sergeants.

When defending, I just let them do what they want. I keep them inside the castle for better protection.

When attacking, I get archers to hold outside castle, and everyone else to charge.

Open field tactics as infantry:

If there's a hill near where you spawn, get on top of it.    Put your archers on the highest point, put your infantry far enough in front that they're not blocking your archers' line of sight, and either keep them directly in front of the archers if you're facing a lot of cav, or if you're mostly up against infantry put them off to the side.  That way, your archers will be able to keep shooting as your infantry fights.

Put your cav about 100 yards away on one of the flanks, preferably out of sight.  Try to time their charge to hit the enemy flank just as they're making contact with your infantry.

If there's a river, put it between you and the enemy, put your archers on the bank and your infantry in the water.  Cav's no good in the river, so you have them cross upstream a ways, move them away from the river, and then have them charge so they'll attack the stragglers/archers on the other side.

Open field tactics with all-cav army (especially if you have horse archers):

Order everyone to follow you and ride at the enemy. At the last second before you hit, order knights, mamlukes and/or lancers to charge, then you peel away (to the right, preferably).  If you have horse archers, have them continue following you.  The enemy will turn to pursue you and take the full brunt of the charge on their unprotected sword arms.  Once the charge has thrown the enemy into disarray, have any horse archers charge and they'll skirmish and pick off stragglers.

This works best in desert, steppes, and plains.  Not so much in mountains: there, you're at a severe disadvantage and may want to wait for the enemy to come to you if possible (hopefully, your archers will be picking them off as they approach).

Siege defense is fairly easy: it's usually best not to order your troops to do anything, as they'll automatically be deployed to best advantage, with archers on the walls and infantry at the gap in the walls.  You may want to order your infantry to spread out a little if the gap is wide, but other than that, there's not much to do.  I generally put 25-50 (depending on the castle/town) top-tier infantry at the top of the garrison list, then pack the rest of the garrison with high-level archers or crossbowmen (about 50), and then Swadian militia, a cheap filler troop that usually spawns with crossbows (unless I'm playing Rhodoks; then I just use their tier 2 crossbowmen).  With a good defensive castle like Grunwalder Castle or Uhhun Castle, chances are very few attackers will even make it to the walls to engage in melee, being picked off by arrow/crossbow bolt before they make it up the ladder.

For a castle defense (and typically attack too), I always dump my melee weapon and shield and just carry a bow and three large bags of khergit arrows.

I suppose I may be wrong, but in my experience, rhodok sharpshooters are just plain better than vaegir marksmen.

Field battle - mountains: Nord Huscarls, Rhodok Sergeants + Vaegir Marksmen and Sarranid Master Archers.

--> Position your men on top of a hill, archers after infantry, let infantry charge at the last moment (when the enemy is at throwing axe range)

Field battle - flat/normal map: Cavalry

Swadian Knights. Just make them follow you and form a line, when close enough but still far enough for your knights to gain speed order to charge. They will clean the enemy's lines in seconds.

Siege defense: Crossbows, Huscarls, Sergeants:
Position your infantry to hold the hole in the wall and your sharpshooters on one side. They will shoot the enemies down like flies.

Siege attack:
Vaegir Marksmen and Good infantry.
(take a bow with you)

Target the archers the second you are in a siege (if it's a siege tower) get rid of a maximum of them to reduce infantry casualties.

If the siege attack is with ladders (most common) just rush in with infantry barbarian style.
