I'm not sure which version it started, but

-ai now marches when using the advance command. Even enemy ai can/will march to the player's army as well.
-Shieldwall survivability has improved, although not superior yet. 200 vs 200, the shieldwall mostly lose with the enemy having around 50 soldiers left. (same units both sides)
-I do kind of like how the enemy ai will run back when losing ground and come forward again to reset the stage. I just don't like how this breaks formation. Perhaps the enemy ai was in charge mode? Should higher level ai heroes make their troops fight in advance command to maintain cohesion?

RECOMMENDATIONS:
-Allow an option for ai to randomize the number they put in each unit and have multiple units. Example: Enemy ai has 400 foot soldiers. A random number assigned to them based on their tactics level allow them to put 100 soldiers in each unit. This gives them 4 units to work with. This will allow them to prepare a tactic instead of frontal charges. Allow the player to have this option as well.
