I've started playing this mod, but I can't figure out how to recruit peasants from other towns (I have a relation of 10 with one, no option to recruit), and I can't figure out how to get money to buy stuff or hire mercenaries.

How do you build your town population and your cash early in the game?

id say capturing prisoners and selling them is a nice way to earn starting cash

Where do you have the option of selling prisoners? in the Custow Tavern?

How do you build your town population and your cash early in the game?

To recruit peasants from other towns you need to talk to the elder peasant, at the start there is only the one in Custow as he appears with the first economic upgrade. You need a positive relation with the settlement and enough money to get the conversation topic. You get a small group of peasants for 200 denars and 2 relation with the settlement. The relation is lowered because those going to you are those that like you.
To hire mercenaries talk to a group on the map or talk to them in a tavern. You need enough space in your party.
