Going to war

So basically we aren't at war with anybody and the king refuses my advice of attacking anywhere, this has gone on for a month now. There are plenty of factions to attack.

Is this a bug because my army is rotting away and I have absolutely nothing to do?

Also, I've been called to join a warband as a quest but we aren't at war with anybody, so I go and join this warband and we have now been sat at the same spot on the map for three days.

What's going on?

Pigeon-hole your army in a castle/town (which you should do when possible to save money), and go bandit hunting with your companions.

or start a private war. Problem with that is it'll hurt you're relations with the king, and it'll be just you vs that faction until your faction also goes to war, if they go to war.

To be honest, my save is about to be deleted if this continues. My faction will not go to war with anybody, in fact, not a lot of people seem to be  going to war at all.

Anybody else having this problem? Maybe the AI needs to be a little more aggressive.

I suggest you stock up your main army and travel around doing quests, trade and eliminate bandits or pirates to earn more funding for the next inevitable war.

I'm just so bored of this. The game is called warband, not 'questing bandit killers' (sorry, I made myself chuckle)

It's been over a month now and it's like Cait have become a nation of tree hugging hippies!

True, true. What I meant is that you can't be too ready. And waging a war is not really so difficult, while other fellow forumites had already given some advice on how to do that. If all else fail, you can build your own kingdom! :)

Check out your relationship with the other lords. Look for the ones with the really bad attitudes (it'll tell you on their section of the Reports tab) and then ask them for quests. Sometimes they give one that starts a war.
Or, as has been said, attack a kingdom's caravans. Your king will be pissed, but thankfully M&B lords have the memory of a squirrel and it'll all be fixed between you two the next time you go to one of his feasts.
I was stuck at peace for over 100 days. In the time that I could have been fighting for the glory of Desmumu, three factions that we should have taken on were annihilated, giving our more powerful enemies a huge edge.
So just go up to a castle and click Besiege.
