All right, thanks for answering.

I'm not anywhere near killing one of those big armies that spawn just yet, but when the time comes I think i'll let the bow disappear then, feels like less cheating

Until then I'll guess ill use it myself, and since the mod itself is quite challenging like you said I suppose it justifies it a bit.

Cheers

On my archer character, with a STR of 35 and PD of 10, his 35p bow still isn't doesn't do enough damage to kill many enemies. I say give it to a companion (I recommend Lethaldiran) and just let him use it if you don't want to. It'll save you 2 Qualis Gems to earn one for him.

i kill stuff in one to two shots with a noldor composite at pd 7 and str 24
Well you can kill most things in 1 shot but the tougher enemies like immortals, knights, bearclaws, etc. normally don't go down in one shot with a noldor composite. I'm using Noldor arrows too.

I'm using a sapphire rune bow, with more than 550 weapon prof,it does more than 140 damage. Can kill anything in my sight.I've tested with the ruby bow, which does a bit higher damage(around 145-155) but shorter range and accuracy.

Well in that case it must be the proficiency difference. My archer character only has 404 archery proficiency. I would think that from previous experience that would still be enough to 1-shot anything, but then again this is PoP and not Native.

I had one last night, some god mentioning something about "Saving the D'Shar" as I had them down to one city and no castles.

One told me to go out and kill all the enemies of the D'Shar because they were being dominated by the empire and the fierdsvain.

Ruby bow has the most armor-piercing bonuses, so it does more against armored opponents than either of the other two.

Ya but if he's doing 140 damage with a sapphire and I'm not doing that much (upgraded to an emerald now) then the only thing I can think of that is increasing his damage is proficiency.

I've tried to test two bow, sapphire and ruby to defend at Castle Kaverra.I shot at their back.Ruby did higher damage, but not much as i mentioned before.

I think it depends on your level because I'm 34lvl on day 260 (imported my char) and already had the bow, the god of justice who will supposedly defend me or something, +1 in riding and also, not 100% sure about this one tho, +1 in prisonner management.

No it can't be based on level. I have an imported character and the only reward he's gotten from a god is the ruby bow and he's level 49 on day 470. I did have a couple other gods speak to me, but I got nothing from it.

You mean threaten me? Yes. You could look at the text files... or playback the sound files but it is really, much better to have it hit you out of the blue.

140 damage from that bow? Still not enough to 1-shot everything. Yes, nothing has more health than that but you can still clip a shield... and do not be surprised if you still cannot 1-shot a Netherworld Charger with that. So I prefer a Sapphire. I want to be able to at least head-shot peons during a siege. Like the Ruby, I will still just need 2 shots but I can shoot faster and a lot more accurately too (94->99 is a big difference, 5% angular is big!)

I have not noticed any difference in damage from a higher proficiency. Seems to be affected solely by PD and the dice-roll/head-shot thingy.

I think what we need to ask ourselves in regards to damage from bows, is who did you do that 140 damage to? I can do close to that with an emerald bow if the targets armor is low enough. It's the top-tier enemies like knights and such that I don't kill in 1-shot.

Must be some armored people, not sure about the body or headshot, U can do up to 230 damage with a headslash agaisnt a peasant, while I got around 140 with a solid hit agaisnt demonic magus.

I would so love to have a Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald Crossbow, so I wouldn't have to invest so many points into both Power Draw and Power Strike...just put almost all my points into Strength and reap the rewards...
