Global weather?

I just thought it would be nice to have rain and similar stuff on the worldmap aswell. Aside there could be season change like summer winter etc. but this is too much i guess. Also i thought of frozen lakes since we have snow where if someone is heavy enough, the ice could collapse. Also it would be funny if people would randomly lose balance while walking on ice.

Reminds me of Charlie Chaplin, not of medieval warfare

Global weather would indeed be nice if it could be kept simple and have minimal effect on the framerate.

All you need is a single command to swap worldmap textures. The timing is already there in the form of the triggers. They are ticking away constantly to time various things like spawns, etc.

Seasons should be pretty easy to do and it may already be possible but most likely not. Just lobby armagan for one command and its a done deal.

Well, this reminds me of an old similar weather related idea but with a specific regard to battles:

Have weather and terrain affect combat and movement on the battlefield.

A few examples:

If the battlefield is muddy because of heavy rains, reduce the speed of heavy cavalry.

If the field is sandy (because of desert terrain), steppe horses gain maneuverability.

If there is heavy snow on the ground, movement of all troops reduced.

Don't worry. I doubt these will be implemented, but it would be cool to know that my heavy warhorse might be a liability in the desert or that my Vaegir footmen could be more effective than Khergit cavalry.

A bit off topic ... but I couldn't agree with you more, Strange.

To add the little details like you just described would take this game from the 'great' catagory ... and put it into a whole new echelon of unbelievable.

I am forced to wonder if that would be hard to do, though. Or if Armagan cannot find time to add this ... could it be something that the modding community would be able to do?
