That makes no sense to me, so I'm either too economically illiterate to understand the implications of "putting it own black", or you spelt something wrong somewhere

. Whereas other countries need to either take up huge loans or use future tax income for a hundred thousand years to cover their banks' arses, we have an oil fund beyond belief as a crash pad, not to mention the government can independently and actively interfere in economic politics, unlike more capitalistic states, and through this we can more or less recover fully after the crash much, much, much faster than any other western nation.

Oil prices tend to crash during a recession, and all those high tax revenues tend to disappear with rising unemployment

To be fair, Françoise Sagan made ****loads of cash from betting on the number 8. She was just a lucky ***** though, and already rich anyway...

So "put it all on black."

I guess that typo does make it a little confusing.

Plenty of people make a ton of money at the roulette tables. Just that many, many, many, many many more lose .

Roulette is a mugs game. If you ever want to make money in a Casino, hit the blackjack tables.

Baccarat, even more skill involved that simple blackjack.

That said, they say a poker tournament is only ever won by the best player, so maybe luck really doesn't have that much to do with it.

Won't do you much good unless you're a decent and sufficiently bankrolled card counter playing with half-decent rules.

Tournaments are won by chance (luck), even though skill can be a major influence. Skill only means you have an advantage in a situation, so even if you have AA (pair of aces) and go all-in preflop, you'll still occasionally lose.

Nah, Blackjack and Baccarat are the only games where the odds are neutral between the player and the house (at least by standard rules anyway). Card counting and the like can move the odds into the player's favour, but even without any strategy you can make a decent win as long as you don't get too carried away.

1. They aren't the only games.
2. Blackjack games that offer a straight-up edge (just basic strategy - no card counting) are very rare, and perhaps non-existent these days (they've been dumped in Vegas).
3. Baccarat. Player has an edge on the banker bet, but players still pay commission.
4. Most casino games are beatable, some by legal means and most by illegal means.

but even without any strategy you can make a decent win as long as you don't get too carried away.

No, you need a strategy. In blackjack the minimum you need is a good handle on "Basic Strategy", i.e. the actions you take based on your hadn total and the dealer's upcard. This is necessary. You also need appropriate money management.

at least by standard rules anywa

Standard rules aren't what they were 5-10 years ago.

I just jumped to page 7 to see what is going on and what do I get??

A god-damn conversation of ****ing Blackjack.

You guys disgust me!Not really.Love ya

At this point blackjack is probably a more productive conversation .

Not everyone is doing poorly at this time as crises represent the most profitable trading periods in the financial markets. Good times for some, end of the world for others.

All I can do is say American banks should've seen this coming. Giving mortgages to people without collateral... sheesh.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." -- Matt. 6:19-20

I warn you all, the end is coming. It still isn't too late to believe, but your time is limited.

People have been chanting since the dawn of fire, what makes your argument for the end of the world different from all the rest in history who've predicted wrong?

I don't think you make a very convincing argument, what with the millions of years before the end of the solar system and all...

I read in an article China's growth has slowed around 10% so far this year, in comparison to 2007.
