No, he wasn't. Read his post; it's quite straightforward. He made a mistake, like the other dude (a gross one).

I've never known Archonsod to make such a blatant mistake.

I thought China had a population of about 2 billion or thereabouts. Then again, they did have a couple of earthquakes in recent years

China is about 1.3, world is about 6.6.

Thoughts?

Obviously the markets like it, increased confidence and liquidity etc. There are still some major issues going forward. Time will tell.

I'd like to inform you all that Australia is doing fine.

We have had a few minor falls but otherwise we're still goin' strong, especially in our banking sector

Meh, Romania won't be affected by the crisis. Our stock-market is a façade, since the economy isn't affected by it. Only fools can choose to believe that our free market economy is run by things like "smart entrepreneurial decisions" or whatnot. Our economy is run by those who are deep in with the government, where most money comes from. So no one will be really affected. Besides, anyone with half a brain will have their savings in euros, which have currently sky-rocketed so that means you'll come off better if you change them to our national currency (Lei or Lions).

I suppose you've only been watching Kevin Rudd lately. This is a global economy and Australia has been hit hard like the rest of the world. The difference is that Australia as a whole is significantly more stable, and is better positioned to handle to the longterm effects.

Well Finland won't be hit hard, with all remembering the last depression and being careful. Well that's what I've gathered at least.

And nothing makes you feel better about your country that seeing others fall/(fail?).

Didn't Glitnir already have some problems in here? I've been away for awhile so I'm not sure

China = 1.3 billion, at nearly 20% of global population
India = 1.1 billion, at about 17% of global population

India+Pakistan+Bangladesh= Roughly 22% of population, which is why people often get confused.

Anyway, China and the Indian subcontinent make up about two in five people.

I have to learn these fascinating facts for Geography A-level, so I'm well versed in the intricacies of useless population data.

You're a page too late.

I'm surprised there's not more outrage in this thread. I suppose most are too young to be interested or aware.

You say that now, but you'll change your mind when you're 75 and still working to pay the rent.
