Gifting Troops - What does this do exactly?

As per title... I know it gives you a mean relations boost (which is the main reason why I do it haha) But Ive noticed that you give them troops and awhile later it seems as if they are all gone...

I had hoped they would put any excess troops into their castle/town... Or at least use them in their warband, but they seem to disband after a few days...

Bit of a waste lol.

So what does the code do exactly in this case?

All lords have an optimal party level, based on renown, leadership, and the fiefs they hold, just like the player. If you give a lord so many troops that they go over that level, they will essentially desert, just like what would happen to the player.

We could consider adding a check to their decision-making to go and drop them off in their garrison (I think this does happen sometimes, but it could be made more explicit, I suppose).

That check would be very useful since a player could then essentially force garrisoning of their fiefs. A more direct option would be to simply be able to dump troops in a fief as a gift. A nice expansion on top of that that may or may not be useful - haven't thought it out at all - would be to be able to drop troops somewhere without giving them to the lord. Like if an under-defended fief is under siege one could dump his whole party in there, run for more troops, come back and either do it again or join the battle. This would be so one could move troops around somewhat en masse without talking to their constable or giving high-quality troops away in a desperate situation.

You can do this via the Constable already. Just choose "troop movements" or "troop transfer" or some such. There are no political/relationship benefits to it, but you can reinforce other centers from the comfort of your own hall.

edit...oh, I should read everything. While you are there. I see.

The mod eagle and radiant cross had something interesting as well , you could put troops in villages to help defend from raids of course a cap should be put and a tier cap as well  but at least those extra troops wouldnt go to waste.

Ah I suspected their party size as a factor although I hoped they would put the excess in their garrisons...

A check to dump excess in garrisons would indeed be an awesome little extra feature... How hard would this be to code in?

I also like what Ogre suggested also although Im happy to hear that you can already send troops to any garrison you like using your constable I didnt know that... Im gonna send heaps to Vyincourt and Harringoth tonight lol.
