You do mean Chingis, do you not?
Ghengis was a double mis-translation to French and the English.
Ghengis' actual name was Chingis, just letting you so the mod will appear to have a good grip on history.
It's a common mistake really, I didn't know about 'til I watched a show on the History Channel.

I thought you were basically a proffesor in Norse Mythology, not Mongolian.

There are many translations to his name.

Genghis Khan is the western translation of Chinggis Khaan. Since im not Mongolian, I feel more comfortable pronouncing Genghis Khan.

Genghis is much more common a name though, and far more badass.

Same with mongolians spelling his name Temudgin as we would spell it Temujin

there is no wrong way to spell it, he was (and still is) globally recognized.

Bob? You mean as in Robert. Or Roberto....you wouldn't correct everyone from Italy or Spain etc when they use this misspelt version of Robert would you? It could well be that Robert is the Anglicized version of Roberto, but regardless of which way it goes the point is that loads of names have modified spellings and pronunciations for different languages. Muhammad is spelt a few ways. Frederick becomes Friedrich, Karl or Carl. Perhaps there is merit in trying to stay as faithful as possible to the original spelling (which alphabet did the Mongols use anyway? Did they use Chinese 'characters' or what?), but since Genghis is the name he is known by in the West, I don't think it's a problem.
