Wow I feel like I'm the youngest here
However I don't find it surprising that PoP attracts an older audience with its setting and gameplay.
One of the main features of the Mount and Blade "system" is that it does not provide instant gratification. PoP takes the difficult elements in the base game and cranks it up a notch. There are times when I find it simply too frustrating. Early game you simply suck and everyone pretty much stomps you into the ground. You do repetitive tasks to marginally get ahead, only to lose it all in an ambush waylaid by a Snake cult party. But all of this is a good kind of frustration. You fail in this game, you fail a lot, and the game rubs it in your face that you fail. But over time you will see your embarrassing weakling of a character turn into a terrifyingly powerful figure and this journey is glorious. It takes a certain maturity of spirit to appreciate that.
That's why I think, this game is not a "kiddie game", in the sense that everything is necessarily geared towards player gratification. This is Blizzard's main sin, but also affects to some degree pretty much any modern major dev studio.
