Knight at Arms
Hello
Was hoping picking one would be less painful but am really struggling to make up my mind. I have scrapped enough money into a pile and am now looking for a new PC.
My budget is about £700 and am looking for a PC that will last for a while and can be upgraded if need.
I am currently looking at two pre-built(I know custom PC can be better but I don't know jack about parts ect) which are
VIDBOX Warrior 4
http://www.amazon.co.uk/VIBOX-Warrior-Battlefield-78LMT-USB3-Motherboard/dp/B007PBHLHM/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1397560847&sr=1-1&keywords=VIBOX+Warrior+4
ACER Predator G3-605
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/desktop-pc-monitors/desktop-pcs/gaming-pcs/acer-predator-g3-605-gaming-pc-21656659-pdt.html

If I could get some feed back on which one to pick or even a different PC for the same price that would be great Thanks.

Between those two, I like the VIBOX better. Neither motherboard is fantastic, but the gigabyte 78 seems a bit better, and a bit more popular. Beyond that, everything could be upgraded if you felt the need at one point or another depending on your future finances.

Most of the other specs are fairly equal between the machines.

That acer one is pretty bad to be honest, don't even consider that. GPU is pretty bad in the acer but also not so great in the other one either.

I am actually laughing at the description they have for the vidbox under graphic card description :

This will play all current games in their highest resolution settings in stunning clarity. Perfect for competitive/serious online gamers

I hope you only have a sub 1080p monitor since you will be pushing it pretty hard to get anything past 30fps on most modern games at higher settings (I was using the same card a while ago while waiting on a new card to arrive).

Biggest concern with the vidbox is it does not contain an operation system so you would have to obtain that, the leds look like they would also be very obnoxious assuming that has a window for the case.

Between those two though the vidbox is the clear winner, better GPU and more ram and a better CPU. I do like the look of the acer case more but that is all.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Looking into building a custom one(online) seeing if I can find a better deal. Also like to get you're thoughts on this one.  Cheaper and I am able to get better parts, to some degree.

INFINITY HERCULES SE

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ Use this to get custom parts (compatible) that people build for you and then send to you. They also include warranty I believe.

Or

I know you really said you don't know about the parts but it is basically electronic lego.
http://pcpartpicker.com/
Use that with the compatibility box turned on. And post the results here and see if we can help you. Also if you can wait a bit Haswell Refresh comes out supposedly around Q2 meaning you could get that or get the hopefully cheaper prices as the older stuff goes down.

EDIT: Just made that Hercules PC on Pcspecialist for £613 (Inc VAT) so I saved you £45.

If building yourself I would start checking out some forums that allow people to sell their used parts online and try to find a gpu and cpu there (possibly even a psu but rarely do people sell those).

A lot of people are getting rid of their gpu and cpus to upgrade all the time and this allows you to usually get a higher tier card for what the msrp of the tier under would cost. I recently got another 7970 for $275 Cdn but have seen some as low as $250.

Had a look at PCS a came up with this.

Mainly want it to run games such as PS2,BF4 and arma2,3 and the TW games. All my high demanding games really, but not sure how well it would get along with those

I'd say you need more RAM. Might want to add another of those 4gb sticks for a total of 8gb. At the least.

The GPU should be fine, I don't do AMD processors so can't say anything about that.

I had 8gb but after talking to a guy on PCS forums he said I might be able to get away with 4gb. I am trying to keep the cost down since I still am cheap but just not as cheap as before.

I just don't want to spent all my money on a computer which might or might not run the games I want. As much I would love to upgrade this I already broke my budget.

EDIT: Just get some advise  from CyberPower forums, an Intel build which pretty much shoots my budget in the face with a saw-off shotgun but still running much better FPS then my current one.

That doesn't come with a GPU.

If you get that, I would spend the ~$20 to upgrade to a z87 motherboard. You could probably get by with the onboard graphics card for a bit, but you'll want to purchase one eventually. That will add another $200 or so.

Thanks for all advise. But I am most likely going with this build from PCS

I could change the Graphics card from a 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 750 Ti - DVI, mHDMI, VGA - 3D Vision Ready to a 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 760 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready. But not sure if I would make a massive difference in game play, and it's also a but pricey as it pushs the cost up to around £710 with the new power supply for it. Sorry if I am dragging this out but I don't know much about parts and don't want to spent money on one thing to find out for only £50 I could have got a far better one.

Well I spent 5 pages blabbering when I was building a new PC so it shouldn't be a big deal

Also the build looks decent, again never used AMD processors but the rest of it should work.

5 Pages it pretty impressive.I could maybe write 4.

As far as AMD processores go from what I have read they are perfect for budget builds which fits me like a glove.

Amd is fine, people saying otherwise are intel fanboys or ignorant.

Intel is usually better for most games though since they have higher clock speeds per core but lately have less cores than amds offerings. Higher cores is really only good for strategy and rts games that can actually utilize the cores, most games do not and that is why intel is usually regarded as being better for gaming.

There is huge difference between those two cards. Of course it will make a massive difference in game play when playing in high details.

http://www.hwcompare.com/17292/geforce-gtx-750-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-760/

But I would have saved up a little more to get a 770 if I were you so that I could have highest details for some of the games. (I would also consider ATI cards)

You mean the 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 770 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready? If you think it will really boost the amount of games can play on  higher settings then I might wait a little longer but with the new power supply I had to pick to run the build it is coming to around £800

Even the 760 would make a huge difference over the 750.

Also the new generation consoles are equipped with AMD processors meaning that future games will most definitely begin to utilize more cores, though that will probably happen regardless of the consoles I suppose.
