Getting captured

I think if you lose a battle and your unconcious, there should be a chance that you can get captured and sold as an arena fighter.

Except as a prisoner, the arena fights are more lethal, and you have a chance of being killed.

Also, you would need to win 3 or more in a row, to become a free man again.

What do you guys think?

Getting captured...

Well, I would say that if there is a chance to be a slave, I would like to have the oportunity to become all Calradia's Ruler...

It seems like a good way to negate the cheese factor on getting knocked out while soloing and fiegning death in the 'confusion'

Aside from the possibility of dying, I think it's a pretty neat idea. To keep it from becoming too tedious, maybe the player could be allowed to roam the town, but not to buy followers or leave town until he's won the required allotment of fights.

It's an idea i've always advocated. Get captured by a group of bandits, and you could be sold at the Salt mine. In order to escape, an allied hero (borcha or maybe a hero from a different party if they are ever added) could come to ransom you, or you'll have to somehow sneak out with what tools you have.

If you get captured by the enemy (who are the swadians by default), you are brought to the nearest count and forced to repent. Once that happens you become a soldier for the other side.

Pffft *spits water everwhere for drama effect*

This idea sucks, even I with a team full of marksmen get ahead of myself and die (with the best armor in the game). Anybody can die, no matter how good you are you CAN be outnumbered 5v1 and be killed.

Maybe add this with a mod....

I like the idea. I would assume that it wouldn't be that hard to add to the game and could seriously add to the immersive feel. Getting 'beat down' and losing a few gold/items each time just takes from the game for me.

Lets say that some Black Knights just beat me and my small army ... they take several prisoners and then leave my sleeping body (with super expensive armor), my warhorses, the vast majority of my extra gear .... then they ride off in the sunset? :P

EDIT: They also forgot the large chest filled with massive amounts of gold. Phew! Glad they missed that!

Good idea, I like it.

PS maybe after you win 3 or more fights in row you can join this group (gang :) ) and so have new locations (their camps, where you can train people and sell or buy stuff). And so you can pilage the towns and attack poor commoners  , mhahaha.....

With those huge helmets they cant see much, thats why river bandits are the only ones that take your horse and other items when you die

No.

Hey, I've heard of this cool movie. You know what it's called? Gladiator. This would basically require an entirely new game for it to not suck. It would also get old, and then become a chore rather than an enjoyment. Trust me when I say this would suck.
See previously mentioned movie for information on what this crap would require.

I actually haven't seen Gladiator so I'm unsure of your meaning. Any other comparisons you could relate that with so that I can understand where you are coming from?

The idea seems sound to me. You get taken prisoner and put in the arena ... you must survive (win) three fights to gain your freedom. If you don't survive ... create a new character and try again. Simplistic and better than an absurd, "Dang, my head hurts. Oh look! They took 22 fish and 137 gold? Hahaha!!"

I agree you should be robbed more then 200 or so gold when you die...But fighting in the arena? That idea sucks horribly...but what do i care? Me and most of the M&B players will just save/load just in case

Oh, pardon me then. No, I'm serious.
Gladiator is a really cool movie about this spaniard guy in the Roman army who is a really awesome general in the war against the Germanic barbarians, and then the emperor (who he is good friends with) wanted him to be his heir, but the spaniard wants a bit of a while to think. Then, the emperor's son, pissed off at this notion that anyone besides him would be the heir, chokes him in the night and takes the throne. Spaniard refuses to bow to him, so he is to be executed. He escapes with ub4r L337 skillz on the gaurds (the execution was way out in the woods somewhere and there were only a few) and becomes a slave after going back to his home to find his family killed and his entire, really nice home by the way, destroyed. Becomes a slave, then fights as a gladiator in the arenas of Rome. I won't say more, the movie really does own, check it out sometime.

Basically what I meant was you'd need a whole new game with new code and stuff to really make an effective and fun sequence of being a slave, then going to the arena and working out of it, or it'd be kind of lame. That's almost a gaurentee. And lame stuff gets old fast, as I'm sure you'd know. It's not that the M&B team sucks or anything, it's just they'd have to take time and effort out of the main game to do something they didn't really intend to do.

That does sound like it could be a good movie. I'll grab it the next time I'm at Wal-mart. Thanks.

Hrmmm. Any ideas as to another way to avoid the *I lost a fight, no big deal* problem? I do see what you are saying now ... and a repetitive series of arena battles (without serious flavor added) could get old fast. Personaly, I often just do the arena tournaments over and over. Simple, fast, and easy fighting. It is like a quick fix when I want to fight but don't care to use/lose my men or travel around. :P

Yeah Gladiator is one of my favourite movie's (ive watched it like 20 times :P)

But i don't agree on adding code and stuff , they may have to do a little , but there is talk of making the Arena feature better anyway so maybe they will.

I think the dieing feature is very good too , i mean , what are the chance's of you being knocked out 9282987295724 time's and not dieing from brain damage let alone simply dieing rather than being KOéd.

I also think that if you loose , you should Loose ALL your gold , All your item's , all your people , etc , etc - EVERYTHING.

Another thing that may be cool would to make the slave's in the arena fight's get a bonus in getting there weapon skill's up , so it's kind of like a super training spot , so it would negate the bordem factor abit by the bonus of your weapon skill's going up alot.

Very best that could come of this would be that if you're a real soldier in a 14th century army, then when your party fails and you are defeated, you die. Period. So then you take another soldier's role with conveniently similar looks, and of course as we all know, the army provides equipment, right...?

But you're more of a recruitable loner in this game, so that's a bit too much of a re-writing.

EDIT: Yeah, you could lose the most valuable things on you (say, above 4000 denars worth would be taken), and then you would have to go back to the king, and he would provide you with some heraldric armor and a arming sword or something like that. That would be sweet.

UBER EDIT: Or better yet, he would give you new equipment depending on your rank! But of course! (let's face it - 90 denars a week doesn't do crap) Say, a veteran would get a leather jerkin, a sargeant, some heraldric armor...

I would like it best if there was a random % chance that you never *woke up*. Insta-death seems harsh as no matter how good you are, you are bound to lose eventually (at least I do  ).

Losing everything would be a real pain, also. Huge armies patrolling around ... you have no men, no equipment, and no money to get any of those things. You would get destroyed trying to solo bigger groups without any equipment. The only way to impliment something like that would be if you had some type of storage in a town that you could retrieve. Armagan did mention that this is a feature he was adding, so who knows. That may be a viable way to handle it.

EDIT: Crazy beat me to it. He somewhat answered my question before I asked it. Heh.

My detailed answers own, you ignorant whores, so you don't have any annoying questions to pelt us with.

"Wait, I can still pester him with... no, crap. He said that too."
