Get up, stand up! .... What am I doing/not doing here?

So a while back I bought the game on Steam.

Cycling through the achievements I noticed one that I don't have yet and by the description I cannot figure out how or why.

Get up, stand up! - Says to "cleanse the town of bandits in the opening scene".

Sooo where are the other bandits? I only ever see the one which is always quickly dispatched after which the merchant comes running up to me and away we go...

It's a string of missions.  After accepting a quest from him, you go to find where his brother is taken to at a bandit camp and then run through that quest.  After going through it, talk to the merchant again and you'll get another part of the quest to help him with the bandits in the town.  That's probably the part you're missing.

Ah yeah... I never really do those.

I always mean to come back to him and do it eventually but never do. Then with the way the description is written I thought I was missing something.
