You know those pesky food that spoil in the game?

Chicken and Beef?

Get rid of it. It serves no purpose and it is plain annoying.

I always just ate it anyway. Waste not want not. Once I ate a can of chili that expired in the 70's

btw, don't waste road kill either, you can grill that up just fine. Some of the best food I ever had was killed by a truck.

You buy one of each, and with a good-sized party (80+) you'll eat them before they spoil. They're there to increase food variety, and thus improve your party morale.

Also if you do not like it you can always remove them yourself.
Download Morgh's Editor, apply it to Native or any other mod that you use, go for item editor and search for chicken and beef. Next search for an attribute "merchandise". Uncheck it and update item. From now on you shouldn't see any beef or chicken in shops. It should at least in a way help you with your "problem".
In my opinion - if you don't like chicken or beef, then just don't buy it, don't whine on forum that this is useless item because you don't find any use from it.

I only use perishable food for feasts, not for field rations.  Thus, the issue of spoiled food is avoided.

I'll have one with me, but it doesn't seem like the troops prioritize eating the perishable items before they....well, perish. So even with grabbing just one thing of beef or whatever, it still spoils even with a large army.

Laughing and continually entertained by the bama bandit.

I don't see the problem here,  I would rather use things like beef for my army than put points into leadership.  Before it goes all the way rotten just sell it to the nearest village then ask the elder if they have any cows and get some fresh beef.  Also lots of food doesn't spoil so all of my castles usually have grain and bread and a few others stored in case all the villages around where I am get razed.  That and kick any companion that drops below 60%, no need to put up with whining babies upsetting the rest of the group.

It's always annoyed me that dates aren't consumable - long shelf life, nutritious, and often the only 'food' available in Saranid lands.

Someone gets it.
