Geroia

Anyone know anything about Calradias shady neighbour?

I know Marnid used to do long range trade there and I know it is spoken of with some admiration but does anyone know any more about it? Any maps perhaps?

If it was warlike it would make a lovely big inter-empire rumble with Calradia!

Well, Calradia is spoken of as being much more warlike and undeveloped than other places, and we know the Calradian/Calradic emperors subjugated the lands bordering Calradia... My guess is that Geroia is a constitutional monarchy, possibly with access to early firearms. (which are just beyond the range of M&B's technological level) Comparable to England during one of its civil-warless times, perhaps?

I wonder how big the rest of the world is.

A epic big battle between the Calradian lords + Player vs the alien* Geroia lords if they have any or just 1 emperor.

(alien as in new strange weapons like fire arms)

isn't artimenner from Geroia? I think he mentioned being from another land and would go there after he recovered some of his losses.

Yes indeed - I think some of the other companions mention it too.

Funny to think its neighbours think Calradia is backward.

It'd be good to have Calrad Scion as an option in the char setup at game start.

Lezalit is from Geroia, Artimenner says that he needs to get to some city (random?) eventually.

The sandbox thing is great, but I wish Taleworlds fleshed out the geography and history of Calradia and its neighbors more in their games.

It would be nice to have access to Geroia after conquering all Caldaria... Like you becoming a threat to them and they wanting to interfer, etc. If they have superior tech it would be one more reason to keep a rich and unified Kingdom.

If you look at the map of Calradia it is one giant peninsula - does that make Geroia an oversea empire or is it beyond the Great Taiga or the Sarranian desert??

I think they were more into making an excellent medieval combat computer experience and then decided to make a game around that.  Seems there is more room now for attention to details of the single player campaign.  Who knows what the future holds?

It can't be a giant peninsula because I've heard if you go full zoom in, 40cm=1.2km so it can't be that big.

We also don't know what's across the water to the west or north - it's quite possible that there's only a relatively small channel or sea between Calradia and some land in one or both of those directions.

It's open ended enough that we all just have to use our imagination about where Geroia is, and what it's like. Since the player character is from some land outside of Calradia, one could even posit that they're Geroian.

That's right Wheem and I agree about it being a place that dwells in the imagination. I think there should be some contextual literature on the world of Warband and perhaps it's history.

Killer talks abt wanting Calrad Scions and I think it's a fine idea for a starting characters setup. In a future release that could include Geroia it would be good to have the ancestor of the old empire fighting the Geroians or perhaps enjoy a more peaceful intermarriage or trade relationship?

Killer your last comment doesn't make much sense.

Well the game does mention another land called 'Balion' or something as such being off to the west of Calradia, across the ocean.

So since the Khergits came from the east, and the Nords came from the north, I'm guessing that Geroia is somewhere to the south, past the Sarranian Desert.

Lezalit also mentions he's the "second son of the Count of Geroia", so maybe Geroia is just a county of a larger kingdom?

Maybe Geroia is part a large island West of Calradia, but which has a similar culture, possibly Geroia is the calradian equivalent of Britain. I'm also guessing that it is where exiled nobles go to, although I'm sure that there are other lands East of the Khergit Steppes and South of the Sarranid Desert.

It could be the outside world is a toilet, which would explain why people come to Calradia.  "To the land of non-stop feasting!"

Sure there is.  Where do you think the Strange Armor set comes from?  That comes from the land east of the land east of the Khergit Steppes, which is an island.

And to the south of the Sarranid lands is a huge land with jungles and dark skinned people.

Several of the companions who somewhat belong to a kingdom come from kin tribes outside caldaria like bahestur and alayen.

Alayen mentions he comes from Vaegir lands across the mountains. Matheld says she is from Nord lands across the sea to the North, and that the Nords originally came to Caladria at the behest of the old Caladric Emperors.

Apparently the only factions that are "native" Caladrians are the Swadians, Rhodoks, and possibly the Sarranids.

Yes but all were incorporated in to the greater Calradian empire so all have a claim to the imperial throne.
