Their outside of the houses running aroung...

Ah, that's a definite bug, then.  I've never seen it happen yet, but it probably could occur in the later game, since all the Lords, cities, castles, etc. are still there, just hidden.

Ha, great idea (from Glasgow myself). Though I promised myself I'd cut out the wish fulfilment, and now I'm offered the chance to run down gangs of neds with a troop of Swadian Knights...
...ah, bugger it. Downloading.

That's what to do, come to think of it.  If you spawn on an impassable tile, cheat yourself the *** outta there.

I don't know how the movement cheat works, though... does it temporarily make impassable tiles passable to everybody? 'Cos that would explain Rkid's Nords and Khergits running around, if he used the move cheat.

If the Nords and Khergits are down near the Gallowgate, or up by Blackhill, it's still pretty close to reality anyway, though, so no harm done.

You should implement football gangs. watch the fil "Green Street" and you'll know where i'm coming from.

It's back!  And this time it's ANGRY (because it supports Celtic, ya Hun, lol).  No, but seriously.  Gangs of Glasgow is back out on the streets after a three month stretch in Bar-L, and it has been working out - or slopping out, anyway.

Many, many new and improved scenes, more weapons, an improved map, Pub Sieges (yes, pub sieges), numerous bug fixes (all of them are gone, really, but especially the start-up bug, which was a killer).

The biggest change is the addition of Strathclyde Police as a faction - the only faction other than the players'.  I'd like to have more, but it is good fun to have a single known enemy group to concenteate your hate on (as I'm sure DISCO N1NJ4 would agree, hehe).

But the police are not just hateable (and what's more, siegeable, in their stations) - they are joinable, if you're lucky and patient, and don't mess with their "preferred dealers."

So if you'd rather be armoured than wearing trackies, and mounted than in your trainers, or armed with a riot shotgun firing beanbags than a kitchen knife, join up with the biggest gang in town - those funny-handshaking Filth whom we all love so well!

Or just be neutral, and help out the homeless on Glesga Green as they try to survive victimisation from the local Neds.

The improved Barras will also be seigeable and defendable...  Many textures have been improved and many new custom scenes and objects added.

Hopefully, if all goes to plan, the new improved GOG should be out in the next week or two.

Oh, and you can pick up burds from the pubs.  And do things with them (don't worry, nothing too explicit).

And dance in the pub at The Barras.  And taunt your enemies on the battlefield by pressing T.

Added some custom heroes too... most of whom are ridiculous.

The best "modern combat" mod in existence people...just has returned

Thank you kindly, good sir knight.  You're going to love the new version, I swear.  Forgot to say as well - stones are now "Half Bricks" and have the kind of effect that a thrown half-brick on the street would have.  Replaces archery for the most part, but without the range.  Quite funny to see four or five Neds hit the dirt five feet from your lines, as bricks are launched straight into their faces.  Not so good when the regulars at The Scotia Bar are raining them down on your tropps from the roof.

Great news!  I can't wait!  I had a lot of fun with the first release of this mod.  Thanks for sticking with it!

Aye, I remember the tales of Begbie and Phil McCracken, hehe.  It's been the interest of people here and on Consolevania forum that've made me want to fully complete the thing, despite getting bored and frustrated with it at one point (quite a few points, come to think of it).  It's a pretty dumb mod, in many ways, but as long as people enjoy it I'm happy.  Next project, if I ever get round to it, is going to be a deadly serious in-depth recreation of the Kengir Uprising in the Soviet Gulag, with no jokes or daft voices.  And with big knives.

This is an open question for any modders that might read this: -  the new textures for the felt hat and straw hat are showing up as glowing in-game, though there is a suit on the same costume sheet that shows up fine.  Does anyone know what's causing this?  It's only a minor annoyance, but if I could get it fixed it would let me have more variety in the costumes.

Also, I think I remember a thread about making it possible for the wee guys and the player to drown...  Was there ever a solution to that?  I'll search myself, but it would be kind of necessary for the bridge battles in this mod.

awesome, i loved the beta. Also it would be cool if you could add guns, only they would be very hard to get. anyway....good luck on it

I got mugged by 4 junkies because my character started without a weapon (but with a '****in fine suit' and matching sneakers).
But I couldn't help laughing while being beaten to a pulp

I truly hope you'll keep working on this, removing all the native stuff.
Any chance of making the map smaller, or adding more places to visit?

Good to hear that people have been having fun with my Junkies .

The character that starts without a weapon is a fault I intend to fix - though the starting weapons will still be crap, meaning a trip to The Barras to tool up as soon as you get the money together.

There will be lots more visitable locations, and a few more batt;e scenes, and less trudging around between distant Pubs to recruit men - if all goes well, every pub and police station will be visitable, attackable, and very different from Native (the scenes already built are looking very good, and I've tried to put a range of tactical, or just funny, bits in them - places to jump off onto your enemie's heads, ladders up to pub roofs from where the locals are throwing bricks, etc.)  There will be very little recognisable from Native when it's finished.  The Police, especially the Riot Squad, are looking good, but they're murder to fight - they're almost Nordic in their pure melee killiosity, as they should be.

I think I'll have to severely reduce their numbers severely, otherwise they'll just take over the whole map in about 30 days, leaving you nowhere to recruit or buy weapons safely.  The Firearms Units are a bit ****, and I don't know how to make them any better.

I might have to make the map smaller, like Adorno suggested, since no one likes hiking for two minutes just to reach a pub where no one will join you because "they think you're a twat."  It's a shame, because I'd like to make it as geographically correct as possible... but fun comes first.

Guns are in.  They're very rare, only used by the Police at the moment... not sure if I will make them available from Merchants yet.  If I do, they'll be very expensive.

The only problem is, they're a bit rubbish.  I just used the Native guns that are normally disabled, so it means that the Firearms Units are armed with Napoleonic-era muskets that seem to fire, um, arrows.  Not sure why.
