Did anyone else notice the swathe of comments on that gamespot page saying "shame about the graphics.."? I get they aren't state of the art (just as well considering my crappy laptop) but it's depressing how much value people put in flawless graphics, especially considering the vast quantity of **** games there are that are beautiful. Stupid superficial modern world.

Indeed.

I test games for a living, and sadly ... while this game is kinda VERY dull and generic, I've also tested much worse.

Unique =/= Generic.

*cough* graphics whore *cough*

One of our guy said that if you activate any version of MB, including the gamespot beta, then you can play any version of MB without any restriction, is that true? I bought MB already so I can't try the beta, I hope someone could try whether this is true or not.

First of all, if you really have "bought M&B" you already are trying the beta, why would you try something you already have?

And anyway, the the gamespot one is apparently time limited.

Seriously, this is a pretty short thread, just look around a little, has been told many times over already.

I think he was worried about the trial version allowing people to play pre .960 versions without limitations.

When I saw the beta, I thought it's a new version and downloaded it, and right after I downloaded it, I found its filename was "mountandblade_0960_setup_gamespot", which is obviously nothing new  :shock: , and what I worry about is that this beta can activate all existing versions of MB, but will them all expire at august 25th? and what will happen if players modify system time and make august 25th never come?

I think it has a built in auto-timer.

People are going to pirate this anyways, so I don't think this should be made such a big deal out of...lol. It'd be much better to just pirate 1.0 than pirate .960, so this isn't a big deal. ( I can see if this was a 1.0 key thing and they lasted a few months, but no, this isn't anything big, it's a full game trial that expires when the game is released, THAT's ALL)

Also, the comments on the page are disgusting

"Better graphics, add multi-player, add a story!"

Don't they understand "Open Ended" ?

The Blade Knight anybody?

Most of their readership are still at school. Bit hard to sneak any site with the word "game" in it past a businesses IT filters :wink:

**** all, it's going off elapsed time rather than system time, which is a bit hard to change without knowledge of motherboard electronics, a chip puller and a soldering iron.

Seriously though, even if they removed everything and let them play .960 until the end of time it's pretty irrelevant. It's 1.0 you want to worry about.
