gamespot's exclusive beta

You're right. Even though it told Janus that the beta was over when it shouldn't have, it still told him the beta was over, so clearly, it does expire.

Meh I dont mind if People can have a free copy of 960 for the next month or so I bought the game backwhen it was $12 so I'm all set for 1.0

Just to let you guys know. I downloaded the .960 version from them and so far its NOT a time trail. There is no lvl limit(i am at lvl 11. Its the FULL GAME. Far as i know the keys will not work for the full 1.0 version though.

Hope that clears some confusion for you guys.

It is a time trial. As said and predicted, those keys will expire around the time the game will be released. So it's not your average 1-hour type of trial, but it is a time-trial in the end

That is, unless I misunderstood armagan talking about it.

I think this is the full game or something because im like lvl 12 on the gamespot beta and 52 days. It would suck if they all of the sudden stoped it though at like 60 days because im beasting and having a good time.

It's good marketing. It'll attract a lot of new players who wouldn't have paid for the beta anyway, and who might buy 1.0 when it comes out. And if it's not a time trial and they'll be abled to play 0.960 until the world ends who cares, they wouldn't have bought the game in the first place. Everyone who's saying this is a bad decision is thinking like record label executives, and we all know how the record industry is doing.

This way M&B is getting hundreds if not thousands of potential buyers, not to mention beta testers with no loss of money. This is the second best thing that could have happened, after getting a deal with Paradox of course.

You know, thats exactly the same excuse as for pirating games etc.

Why should this be different?

Except, of course, the trial runs out when v1.0 is released.

How hard is it to understand?

Wow, its hard to read too i guess, i KNOW already that it is a time trial.

If you read the quote you would see that i was answering to IF it wasnt.

PLEASE ****ING LEARN TO READ before you conclude hastily.

If something unplanned happened, of course it would piss us off. But why wouldn't it expire if it's set to do so?

No one said it would not. It was if (mark i say IF, IF does mean i think it is so, IF means "if it was.") it was not an time trial at all.

I said if too. In my both sentences. The thing is, you can always speculate, but I don't see why something should go wrong particularly in this occasion. The flaming is wrong, though. No doubt about it.

Sorry, i got aggrovated by the previous posts.

I dont think it would, but do i see is that it seems a bit unstable, for instance janus got the expiration a lot earlier than he should, maybe it could work the other way aswell?

If it did it would be up to  Armagan and Gamespot to sort out, and sod all to do with you lot.

The Gamespot beta expires on August 25th according to the recent announcement by Paradox. So, a bit less than 2 weeks, and a fair while before 1.0 comes out.

When 1.0 comes out im playing it. Dont care what everyone else is doing or how and who their doing it with.

Did anyone else notice the swathe of comments on that gamespot page saying "shame about the graphics.."? I get they aren't state of the art (just as well considering my crappy laptop) but it's depressing how much value people put in flawless graphics, especially considering the vast quantity of **** games there are that are beautiful. Stupid superficial modern world.
