Games "Like" Mount and Blade, but with Some Details

Hello, thank you for reading this:

I just bought this fantastic game a week ago and spent the whole week playing it.

I was wondering if there were any other (good) games that have the following elements:

1. Being able to hack, slash and conquer with rpg elements, like mount and blade.

2. Freedom in play - you decide your own fate and affiliation, like mount and blade.

3. Being able to kill civilians, lords and ladies - unlike mount and blade.

4. Extensive character customization including both genders, like mount and blade. (optional)

iirc Sid Meier's Pirates!!! is pretty much the same thing as mount and blade single player except without any gameplay. maybe give that a try

Best suggestion so far, but I have a laptop I bought two years ago, so I don't think I will be able to play that one well.
I have about 6 GB RAM and 2.1GHZ, but probably less in actuality.

WotR is an abomination, so no loss.

there is no game like mount and blade at all. you can compare chivalry and war of roses but thats online only and its still not even a comparison.
Single player is the best and no game can top it only wish for a total war warband.

So...basically, what you're in fact asking for, is a mod that lets you kill lords and ladies, since that seems to be the only thing on your list that isn't "like Mount and Blade"? 

I tell you what I think would be amazing, however, is a story driven RPG - like Oblivion - but with Mount and Blade's combat system!! I know M&B is sort of RPG-like but it isn't really story-driven; I'm talking full-on "Baldur's Gate but in Mount and Blade" type game, where you've got the free exploration/decide your fate elements, along with unique quests you can pick up along the way (not randomly generated but actual scripted quests from which you get rewards other than coin), and rather than immediately being able to go anywhere, talk to anyone and do anything, you must first earn the King's trust before he'll grant you an audience...also with dungeon crawling bits, in which you can find a Superior Tempered Longsword of Doom inside a chest (just don't ask how it fits in there!!), a Super Harness of Immunity to Everything except Wasp Stings (which you can, of course, carry in your backpack along with the other three +5 harnesses), and other cool loot! Oh, and factions that you can join (not just nations but knightly orders, mercenary guilds, even thieves' guilds!), and rise within the ranks. We are literally talking "Elder Scrolls with the Mount and Blade engine".

This kind of game must be moddable...if anyone's done one, or is working on one, please let me know!

That sounds awesome. Lately I've been looking at sims medival for the "human interaction" side of things, but it isn't freeplay.

Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim come to mind.    They are very plot driven but it is quite easy to ignore the main plot (so it does not advance) and do your own stuff like becoming head of the mages guild or a member of the fighter or thieves quild.  You can also join the Legion.  They have extensive customization of characters, you can basically make your own class or hybrid of classes.  Not to mention being able to play as a vampire, werewolf, or hunter of them.  All of them have huge open worlds with many towns and countless dungeons.

Of course Mount and Blade also has a huge number of mods and I have only tried a few.  You might want to find out the best mod for your requirements.  I know diplomacy mod used to make native more interesting, not sure current SP mods.  For multiplayer some people who are heavy into role play try Persistent Worlds mod.  Your experience positive  or negative  may vary greatly server to server however.
