In Progress Game won't start. Let me see main menu please! [VIDEO]

Users who are viewing this thread

Created a forum account to post on this issue. Haven't been able to launch the game since purchasing it on release day. Tried all suggested fixes, both official and unofficial like fellow poster gasznak.

My system specs for reference.

Windows 10 (Latest updates)
AMD Ryzen 3700X 3.60ghz
AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
16GB RAM DDR4 3200 Corsair Vengeance Pro

PC plays all latest games eg Doom Eternal with no issues, and this is the only game in memory I've completely failed to launch. Like most others in this thread the game shows the initial loading screen, plays the developer logos movie, then freezes on the second loading screen. Crash uploader also crashes.

An update from the developers on this issue would be appreciated as it seems like its being completely ignored at present.

Yep, last few days I even got a bunch of pms from other people also having the same problem that we have.

What we can do for now guys:

a) keep trying different solutions - whenever someone comes up with a new fix please post it here so others can try it - usually it means some lucky individual will get past the main menu boss fight. :xf-wink:

b) keep posting about our issues - don't let this thread and other startup crash threads get buried - make sure devs know we are still there and we still wanna play the game. ?

Sorry for the inconvenience. I will write down some things for you guys to try. Feedback from you about these trials will help us to fix this asap.
1) If you can not see even the launcher, you can try the following: Go into the 'steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\bin\Win64_Shipping_Client' folder and writing 'cmd' to the windows explorer path bar and hitting enter. There should be a command line menu popping up, can you enter the following there and press enter to try launching the game like that:bove Bannerlord.exe /singleplayer _MODULES_*Native*SandBoxCore*CustomBattle*Sandbox*StoryMode*_MODULES_ /anticheat. If the game works, that means the launcher is not working for you for some reasons. We will check it out.
2) If the game is still crashing with the command above, there may be some missing dependency. In order to test it, you can use another exe(Bannerlord.Native.exe) with same procedure as above. If there is a missing dll message box popping up right after the launch, it is a clear indicator that some of the dependencies are not installed by the steam. You can download them through this link: https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?threads/game-failing-crashing-at-launch.397007/. After downloading them it should be able to run easily with the exe in the first step.
3) If your game is still not running after the steps above, we would like to get your game log(the one that starts with 'rgl_log_errors') which you can find in the following folder:
"C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\logs"

Sorry for the late reply. Hoping to fix your issues as soon possible.

1). Launcher works for me. When trying to start the game with a cmd "Bannerlord.exe /singleplayer _MODULES_*Native*SandBoxCore*CustomBattle*Sandbox*StoryMode*_MODULES_ /anticheat" or when starting via launcher or when starting via Bannerlord.exe the game crashes on 2nd loading screen and generates the following rgl_log_errors file:

2) When trying to start the game with a cmd "Bannerlord.Native.exe /singleplayer _MODULES_*Native*SandBoxCore*CustomBattle*Sandbox*StoryMode*_MODULES_ /anticheat" or when starting via Bannerlord.Native.exe the game:

- crashes very fast on 1st loading screen
- there is no missing dll pop up message box
- the is no way of sending you the crash report as the crash report application doesn't start
- generates a different rgl_log_errors file:

I've installed or tried to install all dependencies from: https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?threads/game-failing-crashing-at-launch.397007/ I have either the linked or newer versions of them. Windows 10 doesn't let me downgrade from net FrameWork 4.8 to 4.72.

Hope that information helps! If you have any further questions I'll be monitoring this thread all the time and try to provide you with all the necessary data.

Have the same problem. Launcher is always starting fine, I have a black screen after i push play in it. I receive a black screen and only reboot helps. Here is my log.

Hi,

Where do I enter the cmd command inside the folder?

Edit: Never mind, was being stupid, will post results soon.

Here:

Replace the normal file path with "cmd".

Hi,

@Murat Türe

So when using the cmd: "Bannerlord.exe /singleplayer _MODULES_*Native*SandBoxCore*CustomBattle*Sandbox*StoryMode*_MODULES_ /anticheat" - nothing happens at all, no white screen or any prompts and it doesn't generate any error logs.

When using the cmd: "Bannerlord.Native.exe /singleplayer _MODULES_*Native*SandBoxCore*CustomBattle*Sandbox*StoryMode*_MODULES_ /anticheat" - I get the normal crash, the white screen appears and then loading screen starts with the horse on the bottom right, it then closes down, no crash uploader or .dll errors.

I've installed all dependencies but as gasznak said above I can not downgrade to 4.8 to 4.7.2 as it's built into the OS, tried many solutions suggested at this point but not gotten anywhere unfortunately.

My error logs as requested: rgl_log_errors:

I always crash at the second loading screen. But the more people have this issue the more chance the Devs will fix it fast

I'VE FINALLY FIXED IT.

@gasznak

I fixed it and can boot from steam! Here's what I did..

>Type in sfc /scannow
>Allow it to get to 100%, in my case it notified me of a corrupt app.

Hey I tried sfc /scannow before but I didn't run cmd as an admin, maybe that's why it didn't work. Trying this right now.

Bannerlord started crashing for me with the new update. Worked without issues before.

Checked file integrity, removed all mods (I swithced ot Vortex for mod managment, os I though it might be the culprit).
I get the loading screen with the raiding party and then crash.
