Need More Info Game won't start. Hangs whilst performing first time set up.

Please acknowledge this issue.
Impacts all versions to-date on my machine.

From Steam play button:
Attempts to load for a few seconds.
Reports 'Performing first time set up'.
Play button re-activates.
Rinse and repeat.

I have attempted the many fixes discussed in the Forums.
My version of .NET is 4.7.0 - unable to upgrade without re-installing windows. Note others are reporting this with .NET 4.7.2 and above. None of my other games are affected.

From .exe files:
The only one that does anything is Bannerlord.Native.exe.
Offers to open in safe mode - same result either way.
White screen for several seconds.
Then a picture of guys in a snowy landscape for less than a second.
Then desktop.

That's it. Can't get it to do anything else at all.

This issue has been noted on several threads now. It may be different from the other launch bugs that seem to hang the game later in the launch process?
Please confirm that this is getting looked into, as the game does not get far enough to generate a crash report, and the crash reporting software won't launch on this machine anyway.

Yes - however there was a significant change after one of your earlier patches:

I can launch and play the game in a stable way by launching from:

Bannerlord.Native.exe (C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\bin\Win64_Shipping_Client\Bannerlord.Native.exe)

This directly contradicts some of the info in the pinned posts on launching the game. None of the other .exe files will launch the game.

I tried re-installing Win10, but something about my set-up prevents the latest version of Win10 installing - therefore I cannot update the dependencies. Sorry, not any kind of PC expert - cannot understand or explain the issue. Win10 just refuses to update.

I have been able to Mod the game with a very limited list of mods, by directly editing SubModule.xml in the StoryMode directory and installing the Mod files into 'StoryMode' instead of 'Modules'. I mention this, because although I have some quite complex mods running, I cannot make any alternative launcher Mod function.

Once the game is launched, on the very rare crashes or lockups, it does now try to launch the reporting software, which then offers to install the usual dependencies - as this won't work, I am unable to send reports, but at least the process triggers correctly.

TL : DR - The game works, from the wrong .exe file. The launcher doesn't. Modded or not.

i've been having the same issue except mine started on the around like the 13th of april had like 65 hours on the game before then then i had to reinstall windows ever since the game just wont launch, until like 3 or 4 days ago it wouldnt even do anything after the launcher just run in the background had to close it in processes, now it opens to the loading screen then it makes me submit a crash report i've done eveything You guys have suggested, download the 4 windows things you have linked in a sticky'd post. really frustrated i enjoy this game i just wanna play it.
