Game Update & Payment

Users who are viewing this thread

I have been playing this game for months and luv its replayability etc

Its original and it has depth and it feels like a medieval  historial rags to riches game - like a ben hur or genghis kahn story (thats what i imagibe anyway)

Everyone has their own ideas about how it can be improved

I was wondering how many people would be willing to pay for an substantial update at around USD$10 to USD $20 before M&B2 - if that update delivered about 50% of the improvements u wanted ?

For me yes - anything which added variety and nuance to this awesome game I would gladly pay.

I noticed that Wii is offering old SNES games now and one of these is genghis khan 2.  Now that game had a mini game where u had to persuade ur wife to bed her in order to get heirs !  This was fun (and also explains whay i was a virgin well into my 20s) but a system of having children and then having them grow up to become companions - would be an awesome feature.

As would be periodic  foreign invasions a la vikings/normans to italy/mongols etc

Bit of an odd question really. I mean, if the devs came to me and said that if I give them a tenner they'd add at least 50% of all the features and improvements I want, of course I'd pay. No doubt we all would, as 50% could be a shed load if you have hundreds of ideas. Unfortunately though, the devs have to cater for the whole community rather than just me, so I don't see such an update ever happening.

As for a general content update/expansion... no, I don't think I would buy it. A substantial upgrade is likely to add a plethora of new bugs. Much as I love M&B and Warband, I'm just not in the mood to put up with all that again for the moment. I'd much rather the devs focus on squashing the various bugs that still exist in the game we have now, as well as the little tweaks and changes. Save major content for M&B 2, if there is one.

There aren't that many bugs and I would definetly prefer features over bug fixes or weapon balancing.

There aren't now, but there were... loads of them. Its taken numerous patches, and there are still a few hanging around. The original M&B was the same, and that has led me to the conclusion that a major content expansion for Warband would follow the exact same pattern. I actually think it would be rather insulting to paying customers to make another paid expansion before finishing off the fixes that the current game still needs. If you don't have the patience to wait that long then I feel sorry for you, but a game that works as it should without issues is what I and many others pay for.

Taleworlds are relatively unique in that the do support their game with patches long after the original release, unlike most of the 'big guns' these days. Its the sole reason that I'm still here. You should not support them becoming like everyone else, abandoning their broken games, and pumping out paid expansions/sequels to profits on peoples interest.

You do make a very good point there.
