I have started half a dozen campaigns now and once I get to the mid game and start owning towns I end up quitting due to the constant food shortage problems. In order to keep militia and my garrison from deserting I have to constantly gather food for my towns to keep them from starving. Towns fully upgraded, make sure I'm killing bandit hideouts and looters, have caravans in the towns, and making sure my villages don't get raided and it is still a constant issue. I've even tried only owning 1 town and the best I can do is one round of gather food and then one quick trip to the battle front for a few days then I have to go back on another food run before I start loosing troops again. TaleWorlds needs to fix this asap. Either cut the impact of prosperity on food supply in half or scrap the whole thing and start over. I should be able to go back to my town to resupply not to have to constantly babysit.

There is big topic about this issue nearby. Long story short - it's a known issue and next fix attempt planned to next patch probably coming this week.

+1. Slightly longer version: it’s way more complicated to fix this than it might first appear because of the devs impressively ambitious (and I think generally great) ‘living world’ market dynamics. They are going try to fix it while not breaking everything else, in short.

For now you should stop babysitting towns by giving them food. It's counter-intuitive but this will only make the problem worse. It's like giving an addict more heroin. They will just get even more addicted and with a higher tolerance, and the withdrawal (starvation) will be even worse.

Until it gets fixed you just have to accept that you will lose some troops from towns over time. So put crap troops in the garrison, like instead of 200 veterans put 500 recruits, so it doesn't matter much if you lose them.

If you have valuable high level troops you want to stash for later, put them in a castle. They are less likely to starve there.

Dirt-poor cities like Charas really shine in 1.4.1.
With 1000 prosperity, your garrison gets all the food to themselves!

But don’t you run into the problem sometimes of caravans buying all of the food away from those low prosperity cities?

I wonder if the foot shortages are tied to things like workshops not generating gold or caravans costing more than they earn?

Food shortage is ridiculous
My prosperity is low becuase I am short of food
and I am short of food because my prosperity is low its a vicious circle with no way to break it

I am sitting with an army at a castle with no food in its grannary and I have 500 food and cant give it any

Propserity impact on food is far too high I've had - 58 a day at some points its tottally out of order
Plus theres little I can do to affect prosperity escpecially in a castle

Heres an example

I had
Empire prosperity bonus +1
Loyalty +1
Serfdom -1
Crown duty -1
Food shortage -1

So i get -1 prosperity as i get penalised low prosperity
I get a -23.73 daily penalty ( which is 1% of my prosperity ) to my food a bit excessive for one point of prosperity I might add

So I remove the garrisson and get some food in the granary as the garrison was just pushing me into shortage and have
Empire prosperity bonus +1
Loyalty +1
Serfdom -1
Crown duty -1

No food shortage penalty hurrah
So i get 0 prosperity good you might think as I get penalised for both low and high prosperity no
I still get a -23.73 daily penalty to my food so I'm even penalised for no prosperity utter madness

The whole food and starvation system is overly complex garbage. They'll wind up wasting the entire EA period trying to get it balanced just right and it will still be a terrible, hated game mechanic.

Yes the last Patch sorted this for a bit. but now i see my food going down fast and have to start again taking troops back out of my town.. but going around the map i see other factions have 0 food in store but still hold troops but mine run of.. cant work it out and hope they sort it out..

Can't think of the exact name but did you select the perk to allow for more food in castle management. Are you keeping bandits cleared away so villagers can deliver food. I'm guessing you got the granary and such on level 3. I have my two castles fully garrisoned and they have a plus food production. Kingdom policies also can help this.
