Game runs too fast

after doing a fresh install of .704 M&B runs in a super sped up mode. Back when it was .6something It ran fine. I updated my video card just in case, no change.

Here's what I'm running:

Xeon 3.2ghz Processor
ATI FireGL 3100 video card
4gb RAM
Motherboard sound (not sure what kind of mobo)

If anyone else has any ideas, I would be very grateful for them!

Thanks,
Red

Welcome to the forums, Redliner. :)

I have no idea how to help with something like that. Since you have a fresh install, I can't fall back on the standard uninstall, delete, and re-install.

Hopefully, Armagan or Archonsod will have a better idea of how to help.

That's what you get for having a beast of a machine :P

It sounds like it could be a rather simple solution. The latest version resets the M&B config file, so your max fps has probably been set to something silly (mine reset to 150).

Try altering it to 60 fps. Click configure on the M&B launch screen, you should get a notepad file open.
Firstly, check the settings in video configuration. Its self explanatory, basically just change the values to the maximum given (makes the game look prettier).
Look for the "max_framerate =" line. Change the value to 60, click save and exit. Run M&B and you should find it has returned to normal speed.

Post again if that doesn't work as it may be down to a software bug.

Thanks Narc!

And thanks Arch, but that didn't fix it =(

The machine's not mine though, It's for moving big graphics so it's pretty rediculous as far as a personal computer would go.

It's not a big deal, since it used to work last version, I figure theres a chance it will work again next version =)

Also... I swear I saw a topic on cheats in the forums somewhere... is there a cheat that messes with speed perhaps?

Cheat thread can be found here.

There is a slow-motion cheat that someone found ... yet I'm not sure if it was placed in the cheats thread or not. I believe it was pressing F8 while in combat. I searched for it but couldn't find it. Can anyone who knows, confirm that?

Other than the slow-motion trick ... I know of no way to change the speed of the game.

Sorry I couldn't help more,

Out of curiosity, what FPS does the game display?

You could try compatability mode. If the problem is related to hyperthreading or something similar running it in Win98 Compatability should resolve it.
As a temporary solution, you could try one of those slow programs. I usually use one to play older games on my own PC, and I suspect it would resolve the issue. Just remember to close the slow program down after exiting M&B else windows will be running slower than normal...

Arch - 18 FPS

Things I did to try and work around this:
Crank up and down settings, way high, and way low - Nada
Compatability:
win 95 - Error
win 98 - Error
Win NT - Nada
Win 2000 - Nada

Windowed, Full screen - Nada

Turn on and off those 4 video options in game - Nada

I think I will just have to take it home to my slowputer (no gargantuan battles *tear*)

And yes, my boss paid 5 grand for this computer, it's pretty rediculous =D

I wouldn't worry about burning any more brain cells on this one, but thank you for the help you have provided.
