That reminds me. Apparently Sims 4 won't have some features like toddlers and pools at launch, because EA wishes to provide a solid framework for their product which will later on expand into a full Sims experience the customer deserves. Which is EA talk for prepare to dish out tons of cash for expansion packs to get the full game you ****ing idiots gahahahah!

Oh I'm just waiting for the coming ****storm for this and the most recent Planetary Annihilation controversy. I even brought popcorn!

And there's been a controversy every time. As long as EA keeps pushing the boundaries one baby step at a time, people will keep talking about it.

Y'know what gonna create a huge ruckus? If the recently revealed Mass Effect 4 turns out to be the same recycled garbage.
And the blame's shared equally on Bioware this time.

As for Sims 4 it's the same as with many years ago only now ripoff expansion packs get replaced by DLCs.

What happened with Planetary Annihilation?

This did:

This keeps coming up in places in about the same way. It requires some explanation and context, but people keep posting it with no context at all and wondering why no one gets it.

In context, it's a little ****ty, out of context, it's meaningless.

If you're going to post a random picture, expect people not to instantly understand it in it's entirety. For one thing, there hasn't been any real discussion over that.

I mean, this is the first it's come up on Taleworlds at all, and outside of the Planetary Annihilations forums, to an extent, and TotalHalibut's sub-reddit, there's been no real official discussion. Even the discussion in those places has been somewhat random and uninformed.

There won't really be any real discussion of it either, until there's official statements or TotalHalibut, the one who took the picture and posted it to Reddit/Twitter and initially expressed disappointment, makes his inevitable video pertaining to it.

I believe the general consensus and TotalBiscuit's problem is that Planetary Annihilation's development has been moving somewhat slowly and unimpressively lately, and I agree, but here they are releasing boxed versions of the game before it's even close to release. It's a money grab, and it's somewhat dishonest because most box-buyers aren't familiar with this whole early access thing.

In particular, it could encourage all this early access crap to get even worse, already a huge portion of the Steam sale was early access stuff that's completely unfinished, some of which will never be finished, but this is a step towards even more of the industry getting flooded with unfinished games.

Imagine if Towns were able to/began putting out boxed copies, it'd be terrible.

All speculation and possibly unfounded, as I was saying.

I generally don't buy into the whole early access stuff either, but there exist games with enough proven talent behind them (besides, PA has already made millions, why bother even making anything beyond stage 1?).

I still think the /real/ issue behind the problem is all the indie crap that no one wants flooding the market.

I really don't see what the massive stink about PA's box thingie is. Yeah, paying £39.99 for a game that's not even finished is stupid, but considering how it used to be almost double that price before that... makes it seem far less of a scandal.

I only had to pay $15. I also think it was pretty stupid of them to release an unfinished game as a boxed copy, not only are they wasting resources that could be put elsewhere (who even goes to a store to buy games now?) but this also leads to the thought that more may attempt this if not only for PR.

Basically, I could see EA trying this later down the line and that is when we will see a real **** storm happen. Early access needs to die already.

Eh, for a different point of view on Sniper Elite 3, here's PCGamer's review of it. It (the review) doesn't sound all that great: http://www.pcgamer.com/review/sniper-elite-3-review/
Verdict: 70
Fun sniping and great mission design just barely eclipse bugs, exploitable AI, and other issues that would make a lesser game impossible to recommend.

A pity, imo.
