Guys in this mod is it possible at all to become a lord of your faction without cheating? Becuase it seems you can only do this by cheating.

Start as a son of some noble. That way you get a fief as soon as you swear allegiance. The other way and the way to getting more fiefs is increasing your renown. Just keep fighting and check with your faction leader every once in a while. Once he says that he wants to give you a fief but has none available, then you have enough renown. Just wait till one of the other Lords of your faction dies and get to your faction leader asap. If he hasn't granted the title to someone else, you will most likely get it (It also depends on your traits on how likely such things are)

I started as son of some noble and managed to work myself up to faction leader without cheating (Don't know what version of BfS that was though), so its really possible to do.
