Ok, you want news :smile:
Several people were forcing me to release some new development blog and here it is. But before I start with all the updates someone asked me on what song I listen to when I am coding, it's atm: "Alan Walker - Fade".

Also a new scener joined the team called "Matty", thanks for your help.Firstly, I finished the fire arrows now based on the "Firre Arrow - OSP".

Secondly, the anti-combatlogging is finished. If you get hit you are in combat state which is like a timer of 10 seconds. If you log out in these 10 seconds you will use your stuff. I think this script will be lag-free, also you get informed when you can safely log out after this timer. Maybe I will also include that if you combatlog that your value of the gear gets removed of your bank - but on this I'm not sure yet.

At third, I included a playtime managment so that we can reward players with a huge playtime on our server.

Also, I'm extending the general admin functions (Admins can teleport players to themself, Admins can move carts with the bow/arrow, Admins can give players a class and a lot more!)

I hope you enjoy the script progress so far. Now, I also want to announce some new items:
"Baratheon Helmet, Nightswatch armor, Ned Starks Lord armor, Stanlys Lord Armor".

Hey, I'm here for fresh news now. We extended the anti-combatlogging system with this method: If you combatlog you will loose the amount of the gears value of your bank and you will drop all gold on the ground. Means: Combatlog won't profit you! Then we come to the safe zones. I've changed some things to make them more lag-free and they work creat so far. If you enter it you can't get hit anymore by people but if you leave you can be hit. Also the house system is new, it's like you buy a house while you are IG and if you leave or if you don't pay it all 60 minutes you will loose it. The houses don't really profit you. There are chests which are not gonna get saved and some interior/stocks inside the house to extend the roleplay. I hope you enjoy the news and if you have suggestions please write them down!

We had an alpha test today which went good I think. The most testers were satisfied with the actual progress and the actual work which is yet in the module. We're getting to the release more and more nearer. Still we have some bugs which are going to crash things but we're fixing them.

Wow, it looks quite neat. Hopefully all the Lannister and Stark Fanboys invading other kind of PW Mods will find a nice place for them now too and leave some Mods who focus on other kind of RP alone.
But as someone said before: Honestly. You have too many factions. You should maybe make many Maps and use another one after every month or two. So you could have 2-3 factions instead per Map, but you wont use the variety of factions, when you change the scenario every once in a while.
For example: A Map including Castle Black and a big part of northern wilderness ( 2 factions with a bigger player base in each). One month later you put in a Map including Kings Landing and the surroundings and you Could have a Stark vs Lannister scenario
 
Okay I have a suggestion/idea.

In this new Module I think that you should have 2 servers, the 1st one is a server where if a player is killed he is automatically banned for 1 week, every Sunday GMT time at  12:00 the bans from player deaths is reset. So essentially it would make the game so realistic, you could defeat a famous fighter in a duel and he would be gone,dead out of the server for 1 week and you would sort of get the recognition that you can't get in normal PW.

You and you're faction could annihilate another faction e.g The Starks. A big battle for some land where you and you're men bravely win and that faction's forces are slaughtered, they are no trouble to you anymore you won the war and you will earn a reputation. I just think this gamemode would be awesome? This would also encourage things like "Capturing prisoners". If you caught the lord of you're enemy or a high ranked member of you're enemy, you could lock them up until they either pay ransom money for that persons release or a proper execution could be held. People could say I "yield" and the person who they yield too could decide whether to take them prisoner or spare them. There are plenty other things which would come into play with this module that would be amazing.

How would you do it? Well illuminati/Wilhelm is a very good scripter and all it would take is a script which would ban players who have died for 1 week, also a admin can manually ban a rdmer.

Obviously having a gamemode like this would be mayhem with RDM,but that is why you have to be strict, if someone rdms, you get hard evidence towards it and that person will be banned for 3 weeks, the 2nd ban will be 2 months and the ban after that will be permanent meaning the person would either have to purchase a 2nd copy of MBW or you could I.P ban them.

So after Sunday evening all players are unbanned and the entire map is reset (except banks,item bank etc) but there is no grudges, you can't remember when a faction defeated you'res and purposely develop a goal to get revenge.

You will need active strong willed admins who are prepared to face a stream of complaints but also have the skill to deal with that stream of complaints.


Also a 2nd server where it is just like PW and those killed on the 1st server may continue to play the GoT RP Module but in a PW fashion.


Archie = Wormy, I was a admin on PW~Nova when Illuminati was in charge. This is just a suggestion don't read this thinking it's what this mods all about.
 
Very, very, very good idea! I really like it. But on the Server with semi-permadeath should be hard RP rules enforced. You should for example never be allowed to RDM someone, even If you're at war with them, unless its a proper battle lead by an official of one of the factions.
Normal peasents should be forced to give supplies, but not money and anyways noone should kill them. It wasnt common to kill innocent farmers.
 
I agree, thanks for supporting my idea I hope Illuminati considers this as I really think it would attract a lot of players.

Honestly, this mod will probably get a lot of players, I think, being game of thrones. I suspect there to probably be over 100 players in the beginning, so many factions wouldn't be a problem.

Also, the permanent death thing, nobody would play the mod if that happened, because they work for hours to get armor then lose everything and cant play for a week.
 
Well. Thats why there is something called rules and RP. These should avoid unorganized skirmish attacks.
And in PW you anyways work for hours for a good amount of money and when you want to bring this money in form of resources to the next castle you get RDMed and this fuc*tard gets all the stuff worthing more than 30 K. PW is always like this, just that this RP server would make deaths and RDMers way fewer.
Also wouldnt it be nice having 2 50 men factions, instead of 4 25 men?
 
just because there ARE rules doesn't mean people follow them. Most places maijuana is illegal but that doesnt stop millions from using it.

and just beacuse you are supposed to RP doesnt mean people will. Trolls troll because it pisses people off. If killing someone means they get banned for a week they will be very angry, more of an incentive to troll/rdm.

You would need many admins monitoring and banning trolls. It would be very hard to do so.

Also, i'd prefer 4 25 men factions because huge factions means small clans get annihliated and destroyed, like my 8-12 man clan.

Edit: also, people only go to places that are near the main action. I doubt anyone will go to mereen because it is so far away from everything. In the mod roma oritur i think it was the britons were in the middle of a forrest and nobody ever went there because it was so far away from the action. most people will be in kings landing/casterly rock/ winterfell/ dragonstone.

We are planning such things but the first map should be a main map containing all factions. Then after some while we will add new maps which are focused on some scenarios like the sieging of Kings Landing or stuff like that with only a couple of factions.

I will think about a hardcore roleplay setting for the module.
The banning will be based on a old PW guideline & we can ban GUID and IP if we want.
Good idea.

In general we will have a strict & hard punishment guideline and rule set. We are focusing on rule breakers. The main thing on why people won't break as that much as they would do if there are like 4-6 unofficial servers like PW is that we ban IP & GUID. We can remove a player completely out of the module if we want to do so. Like this we can remove toxic players/scripters/hackers or other.

We have several RP locations on the map implented.

In my opinion when you die you should not be banned, just forced to change character, this only if you get killed by weapons (clearly not with fists). Will make guards and escorts more useful and will force people to interpretate the fear. This means that when you die you lose everything.. houses, weapons, faction, job and you must change name.

A hardcore setting server with a more RP hardened rule set etc. if the funds allow us to host a second server.
Database is separated of the official normal server settings etc.

If you die on the hardcore server you will loose all your gold, your class & faction. There are no banks on the hardcore server.
Means: if you die you spawn again as a commoner & the respawn timer is 60 seconds. You will have 1000 gold at start.
-> Will force good RP and everyone is actually caring about dying.

But to realize this we need more funds but I will talk with some people.
If we WOULD do this we would launch like 1 week later with the hardcore server.

Honestly I'm really tired of PW and all PW sub-mods, so seeing a Roleplay module I hope for something really different. Something that could make it different would be putting this in the main server, otherwise there would be no point in roleplaying if your character always survives.

Even keeping the faction would be okay for me. I'm just trying to find a way to see this mod something more different than PW.
 
This module is a sub-mod of PW 4.4. There's no sense in denying it. We are no hardcore roleplay module but still we want to give people the chance to hardcore RP if they really want to. The main population of PW want to war and have some fun & theres not much roleplay. We added some roleplay with animations, music & items but at all the people have to RP we can't force them to do it and nor we want.
Some smaller population of Warband does RP a lot but have bad chances to do it on PW atm. That's why I think of assembling a hardcore RP server where the rules etc. are perfect for the "true" roleplayers. I mean, people roleplaying everything like taking a bath or something not someone who just RP with playing a flute for a second. This would be hardcore RP and I could easily realize a setting with some basic script extensions. Therefore at all we need the funds + a second admin team + a guy who I can trust and who RP's a lot otherwise I can't give you the chance. I offer it, if people accept it they can have fun. If it fails then I can close the server.
So.. I will think about all of this but a decision is not done yet it depends on how people react to this. Still I want to repeat: "We are GoTRP Game of Thrones Roleplay Module yes but we are a PW 4.4 submod and our target on our hopefully future population are the PW players theres no point in speaking around it."
