Seems very apt after the year we've just been through!
 
I'm getting a crash to desktop near the end of the initial loading screen every time I try to run ACOK. I haven't been able to make it to the main menu. It's a legit copy of Warband. I've tried both 1.170 and 1.168 with the same result. I'm on Windows 10 64-bit. Any idea what may be the cause? Let me know if any more information is needed to diagnose!

Just a generic runtime error ("this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"), and then the generic Windows "Mount&Blade Warband has stopped working" error when I dismiss that.
 
I must tick "Load Textures On Demand" in the settings to start this mod.
Don't know why, but when i untick the option, i have the same result as you...

That fixed it! Thanks so much! Ironically, I had unticked the option because I was getting frequent crashes in the vanilla game with it ticked.
 
So The North took Kings Landing around Day 30 in the Clash of Kings mod. There was no message saying "The North took Kings Landing and put the Lannister kids to death" unlike what you get for Renly.

I am now 60 days in with the Westerlands and Dragonstone all nearly wiped out but Renly will not declare war on the North and I fear that they never will because of hard coded diplomacy?

I'm Stannis' vassal and we are under siege so we're just scrambling to defend our fiefs and I am not big enough to siege Kings Landing by myself (I can hold 52 units).

The problems I see with this scenario:

* Typically Tywin makes peace with the North and Riverlands once Renly gets the crown. That won't happen so they will get wiped out in just a few days time (they're down to like 5 castles now).

* When the Targaryens arrive, they won't go for KL either because I don't think they declare war on the north?

* The mod won't follow the design of the mod (as much as it does) anymore because I feel like Renly was supposed to take KL because of the messages and stuff and how it plays out late game.

Is there any point in continuing this campaign anymore? I won't be able to convince Stannis to start a new war and no way Tywin can retake it as he lost ALL his eastern castles.

34. Grey Cliffs Prison scene is messed up. Wrong terrain code maybe.
35. Wray castle siege is marked as having a siege tower, but it does not have one, so AI attackers get stalled.
36. Senechal and castellan still have potential to "eat" equippable items from item pool and armory.
37. Caul still carries spare plate mittens in his inventory. Player will either be unaware of them, or they will get auto-sold.
38. Storm's End can't be invaded as the soldiers never get past the siege tower due to a small elevation.
39. Rhyos siege has stuck spots (defenders near gates), some defenders spawn outside of gates.

What the hell happened to the tourneys?

Literally 100% of the time I'm put on a team with people who die from one swing and the other people on the enemy team are sword-sponges. Tourney's are pretty much the only way to level up and make some good money instead of going from place to place for barely any xp or money bonuses. I'm getting my ass raped by raiders left and right while I try to get enough strength to actually do some damage.

I've played around with the starts to begin with the most str and least int, but the most overall points in stats, I end up starting typically with 11 or 12 strength.

I haven't experienced the same things in tourney's as you. Did you know you can command the other troops? Spam F1 for them to hold position at the start. I also typically keep them like that as the enemies mostly focus on you so parry like crazy and back them into your troops.

There was a report of a claimant's dialogue messed up, but in a different way. This is probably the same bug; I would imagine, their dialogues "shifted" due to addition of a new faction, so some have dialogues belonging to another claimant, while others have no meaningful dialogue (as you've described).
 
I have been unable to replicate the change commander bug. Can anyone provide more information?

Background

After my futile attempt to keep Dragonstone alive, we finally lost our last castle at Claw Isle. The thing is, as soon as we lost our castle, I managed to "escape" early so I recruited a whole bunch of peasants and immediately took back Dragonstone because it only had a 50ish garrison size. That victory was just temporary because the next day I got sieged and obviously couldn't withstand the assault.


Problem

So it's been 4 days now since we have all been landless; but there is no sign of my liege (Stannis) or his vassals. I can't find them anywhere on the map. However, when I check their Character notes, it doesn't say "Stannis has left the realm" unlike what it does for Tywin for example (the lannisters have been wiped out).

Questions

  • Is this normal? How long do I have to wait until my faction is declared dead? Or is this a bug?
  • If there is no automatic solution, how do I sue for peace with the Stormlands and Reach (I assumed they would become neutral once my faction dies)?
  • What happens to my wife Daena Velaryon? Will I see her again? :sad:
  • Is there any solution to this without me having to "defect" to another faction? I'm role playing as a Blackfyre descendant so maintaining honor is a little important for my character. Any help?

It seems to happen randomly.

(Looks like script to copy player's persona back onto player troop only works partially sometimes, or, if it consists of several scripts, one part (copying appearance) sometimes does not get called.)

  • I suppose a faction where player is a member can not be truly dead in M&B:Warband
  • If you were factionless, you could pay for peace to any lord. Being in a faction, you may try to get Guildmaster's 'Peace' quest, but I am unsure if you are eligible when your faction has no settlements
  • As soon as you have a walled fief, she will try to settle there
  • Conquer a fief somewhere far from your current enemies, or an easily defendable fief (in 3.0 Rhyos is great (retreat to inner courtyard, place archers on ledges, move 1 sacrificial troop to the gates to make them break, Wray is also good, but due to a glitch, So would be Storm's End if you could get it, but its glitch also affects attacking player)

I think I'll go with Rhyos since it's always nice to have a town. Any thoughts on settling in Sisterton instead or will that cause Vale / North to declare on me?

In my experience, there is no true alliance between Westerosi factions, and Vale declares war on those attacking Three Siters only due to relationship drop happening when Three Sisters' Lords are captured by the player. If you let them go, it will be OK. (Alternatively, help some Vale caravans for a relationship boost prior to attacking Three Sisters.)
