Game freezes

Users who are viewing this thread

I have a really really annoying bug that no one else seems to be having. The game will play just fine, but then suddenly it will freeze completely in battle. This does not happen every time, and seems completely random to me. Sometimes I can play for almost an hour before it happens. The freeze is a total hangup, nothing moves, only way out is to reboot.

I have tried probably every setting in the config file, I have reinstalled Windows (finally...), I tried disabling my onboard soundcard so it's not a sound related issue, I just cant think of anything more. I haven't noticed any recurring thing with the freezes besides being in battle. It's a really great game and I would have registered many days ago if it wouldn't be for this bug. Besides this freezing thing I haven't had any other problems.

If any of you are/were having this problem I'd like to hear about it. If you need any more info just ask.

Hi Inspector Palmu,

I would suggest reducing frame rate limit dramatically to say, 40 and see what happens. You could also reduce battle size. If those help it could be due to your machine/graphics card overheating. If that doesn't solve it, perhaps you could post your machine's specs. That could give something to work with for troubleshooting.

Ok, I limited the fps to 40 and took the battle size slider all the way to the left and it seems to work. I haven't had any freezes since. The battles do take a lot longer because there are so few people on at once, and usually after winning it goes on to round 2.

I did buy the game and have been playing with the fps at 40 and testing the battle slider and I think the slider position has a lot to do with crashing. When it was all to the left the game didn't crash once, and at halfway to middle I had two crashes to desktop during a battle. Then when I tried to enter Zendar the game hanged up at the map screen, but the mouse cursor did still move. Still had to reboot because ctrl+alt+del ctrl+esc alt+tab combos didn't do anything.

I can't really see how it could be my graphics card overheating, because I can play other heavier games for hours on end without problems.

Here's what dxdiag has to say about my computer:

Thanks for the info. I am increasing the size of some internal buffers in the next version (0.623). Maybe that will help. I can't really think of anything else, accept for the usual "Make sure you have the latest drivers"

This just in. I did save my game maybe two seconds before i rode into town (Zendar) and the game crashed. Now when I press the restore a game button at the title screen, the game crashes and gives this error:

error9dk.png

I have no idea what that means. Hope it helps.

No I really don't think so. I only have one install of it, and I launch it with the short cut.

I flashed my 9700 radeon back to non-pro, I forgot I put a pro bios in it a year back. It has pretty much solved my problems I think. I just played many hours to level 11 or something, so I'm happy 8) . It did crash to desktop at the end, but I need to go to sleep anyways.

Thanks for all the help.
