Game crashing the comp and registering

I downloaded the demo yesterday and like it a lot and seriously consider buying the license. If I do, it would be the first shareware title that I spend my money on. First though, I have a few questions and problems.

I have WinME and seem to have the same problem as these guys. The game also seem to cause an error in whatever program that was running before I start the game (anti-virus program, etc.) and I can't also start new program when it is running. Because of this, I can't use the first screen to buy the game because it can't start the internet browser. Does registering also require connectivity to the internet to verify the key? If it does I might have trouble registering too.

Another problem I have is that I can't turn on shadow in the game. It cause the graphic to mess up.

In the full game, how many level are there?

exactly the same problem mate but i run 98se, does your game crash programs AFTER you've played as well?

Try the following:

disable the internet connection (unplug it if at all possible)
go to start > run and type msconfig. hit enter.
On the window that pops up, click on the startup tab
uncheck everything except the following (if they appear)

# ScanRegistry
# TaskMonitor
# SystemTray
# LoadPowerProfile

click ok. You should be asked to restart.
You might get the msconfig window once you restart. If this happens just cancel for now.
Restart the machine and try mount & blade. Does this solve the problem?
If not, bring up task manager (ctrl + alt + del). What programs are listed as running?

NB prior to reconnecting to the net run msconfig again, go to startup and recheck all the boxes.

As far as the graphics go it is likely to be a problem with the card. What graphics card and driver version are you using?
