Game crashes everything after running

I don't have the game version handy, but since I only bought it yesterday I presume it's the latest version.

The game itself runs fine, the problem is that after running the game, every other program I try to run crashes with an "illegal operation" message. The only way to get my PC to work again is by a warm reboot.

Actually it isn't the game itself that causes this problem, just opening the pre-game screen (the one where it asks you whether you want to play the game, register the game, visit the website etc) is enough to cause every other program I subsequently attempt to open to crash, INCLUDING any of the options in the M&B options screen itself, ie if I run one of the options on
the screen and then try to run a second one, it'll crash with an illegal operation message.

I'm running Win98SE. I'm not the only one who has this problem, BTW, I know of others who have it, but I'm not sure what OS they are running.

i get the same. i'm on 98se as well, but i also get if i run anything before, even internet connection, the game won't run and crashes explorer. it also won't let me enter my code to unlock the levels because i can't connect to the internet without the game crashing. it also sometimes crashes in-game without any reason

one thing i forgot is that it always says there is an invalid page fault in module unknown, and when i register it also crashes ccapp as well

ok, who in the world uses windows....(well.. a lot of people)... but who STILL USES WINDOWS 98?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

i still use it cos it's stable and doesn't crash very often but this is an exception

I have this same problem on Windows XP.
