Game-Breaking: Stuck in a loop when Saxons attack after I leave Bjorn's Camp

I leave Bjorn's camp with the quest The Siege: The Messenger, and I get attacked by the Saxon army. I win the battle, do the loot, get talked at by my people and then I die.

Please help! My save starts just as I was leaving the camp after getting the aforementioned quest.

EDIT: Even if I surrender or retreat, I die.

info on your game: version (2.023?), Steam/GoG/etc, Windows/Linux/Mac, any mods or tweaks

- 2.025 - I bought it 2 weeks ago on Steam when it was on sale
- On the quest "The Siege: The Messenger". I leave Bjorn's camp and get ambushed by the Saxon raiders. I go through the dialogue and whether I fight and win, surrender, or retreat, I die. I've tried every possible combination of actions I can think of for a work around and can't find one.
- Savegame is a few days old
- No mods/config changes outside of what's in the game

Awesome, can't wait to finish the campaign. I've been having a blast! This one probably my favorite period/region in history.

It should be avoided in the current build... unfortunately you might need to re-start that part of the story by using the cheats (camp->option->more->toggle cheat menu on->storyline cheats)
