Gaining exp peacefully

I think, devs should add an ability to gain some exp points from trading, hunting, fishing and other things, that doesn't require to kill people.
And how about the ability to hire troops from the map (not rescued prisoners). If you have REALLY BIG charisma and/or party power?
P.S. In 0.703 in shops there are only broken polearms. Can anyone fix it, pls?

currently you can gain exp from merchant and count quests. You can also gain it by giving marnid or borcha a ponit in training.

Do you mean taking people away from other parties?

There are some of normal quality, it just takes some time to find them. (The amount of normal poles could be increased tho).

Back to the topic though, it always annoyed me that trading peacefully did not get you any experience at all, yet following a caravan so they could trade peacefully did. If you sell a major amount to a merchent, you should be able to gain exp from it.

... or if you gain most the most profit from a given item (Sell salt to Zendar, Velvet to Reyavdin and so on). Just a thought.

I agree with burns. It would be nice to be able to gain experience from other endeavors in this game. Of course, in order to gain experience from hunting and fishing, you'd need to be able to hunt and fish. And whether this is added remains to be seen.

Is that you in that picture Burns? Because that is an incredibly attractive photograph. The nose stud is hot.

My thoughts exactly!

Intresting point. I agree. We should gain xp with pacefull things, even as forgiving your prisioners and letting them free.

Agreed. A Merchant-type character will often focus more on this than on fighting enemies, and while it makes sense for fighting to get you lots of xp and a bit of money, it seems reasonable for this to get you lots of money and a bit of xp.

I agree with getting experience by trading, but:

Why should one get xp for releasing the prisoners? Doesn't sound very useful to get XP for doing such a stupid thing like giving your enemies another chance to cut your throat

Well, I was thinking in Borcha. But, that should depend of your level of charisma; or what, if you are carring 10 river pirates, them slow your party, and you need to go faster, what, you cut their heads?

Exp for skill should get that char, who know more in this skill. If you are fighter, then, i guess, Marnid should get it.
Of course, you canget some exp only if you buy something, sell it , and get more money than you pay for it. Exp can be equal for that money.

Hmm, another way to get XP from peaceful missions would be to let poeple buy XP or skill points with denars. Your character could go to a weapons trainer and pay that person to up your stats. This would also help solve the 'my character has more money than he knows what to do with in the later game' problem. Buying XP or skill points should be very expensive, but if done right, would not unbalance the game.

Maybe pay to fight against an uber fighter... that if you kill you get a ton of xp? and if you lose, well, you lost the money
