You can also gain charm very quickly by gifting 1 denar to every lord you come across. Experience gain seems to be independent from the amount you gift.
And for some reason it seems to trigger xp gain twice sometimes. You can see it happen in your video for instance. For other skills it will say "You have gained 2 points in X skill and are now level Y" if you gain multiple levels at once, but here it repeats the line twice in quick succession for two separate 1 point skill gains.
