Sergeant
Just lost my decent army of 50, because I kept being caught by an army of 200. Why did I keep being caught? Because ONE WOUNDED LORD WITH NO TROOPS was fast enough to catch me, and kept chasing me due to his friends being close. He couldn't even go into combat!

Bye bye 10 huscarls and 15 veterans, along with all my companions. And with 'no quitting without saving' on too.

yep that one lord with speed of 8.0 has caught your army...just behind that one lord is 1000 troops whos going at 4.0. The system uses all 'nearby' enemies as the full force against you. This cheat by the AI is very crafty!

Why the one lord could want to chase your army on his own is plain bonkers..

for everything crappy the AI does on the actual battlefield, im glad they do some things right on the world map

i always get a good laugh when this happens to me. once i even isolated that 1man army because we were both much faster than the rest. when he tagged me, there was nobody on the battlefield because he was wounded

Even more annoying is the fact he was wounded - he couldn't even take the field. Sigh. Oh, well, I now have 43 Nord recruits (and 2 nord footmen. Go me.)

They get cocky when in groups just like the bandits

But they can group for battles while bandits can't  Single lords should sit in castles in warm bed not running around like some crazy berserk.

Bandits CAN go group..or they used to be able to anyway.
Imho they shouldn't. It's not that there is a nation of looters. They're little individual groups. Although bandits joining together into one new faction would be a cool idea - 'real' factions are bandits too in a way at least for other factions in war with them... jthey're just bigger

I think you must be mad using realistic saving when the game is still so buggy

They don't in my experience, which is alot of training on bandits. Even when they're right next to eachother they haven't grouped up once.

Well if it makes you feel better, you can always do the same. Ask a king to attack a certain town or repulse enemies and when his 300 men army goes around the enemies will fear him. You on the other hand with 10 troops can easily engage them and get the kings help.

Well, an hour later, and I've finally managed to get my companions back - we retook the castle they were held in (while I was in the assault...) and they were all freed without the chance to hire them. Given it was Tehlrog castle, it was unusual to find that a day later one was in Barriye! They scattered pretty wildly, and half of them I had to sneak in, go to the tavern and sneak out!

When I'm followed by lords I can't beat and can't outrun, I simply send all my companions on missions. That way, instead of being captured they'll just go for a few days and return to you later. You can also disband your redshirt army - you're gonna loose them anyway, and atleast you'll be faster and have a chance to run away(if you do this, it may be wise not to send your tracker on a mission, 'cause you gonna need that pathfinding skill...)

They don't without a tweak, but IMO they should.
There is a way to make them group together, you have to run around them in a circle until their parties overlap on the map, then engage them. They'll be grouped together.

Why would looters group together? If I was a looter I would have my own little group and rob peasants, people wandering alone and even other looter groups. Just like thugs in streets. There is no solidarity among criminals except your own little group/gang. Imho they should fight each other even if we want to make it more realistic.

It is possible in-game. In Native Expansion it is this way. It makes game more difficult.

Clever!

Why would they band together to follow you around and then fight you separately? It's half-way like this. Either make each group work on its own, or make them cooperate. But for them to gang up on you on the world map and then fight you one group at a time makes no sense.

Yeah you're right. Imho they should either work as one big gang or as different and hostile factions. But I think current solution is just the simplest.
