You ride around the map, have gone on hundreds of quests and met a dosen or so lords of another realm, had wars etc.

You meet a lord and talk to them from the enemy kingdom and they don't know who you are until you introduced yourself... Like heeeey... I'm the guy that have conquered half your kingdom and that your family hate, now that I introduced myself you can also hate me.

You talk to your child for the first time after 18 years.: Hey who are you?...
-I am your father **pssssh**

You talk to a Vassal of your *own* created Realm, part of another clan's family.
Who are you?...

-I'm your king... you may bow now.

I'm sorry when the hell did you ever get recognition in Skyrim? I was leader of the companions, head of the mages guild killed dozens of dragons, helped win/suppress the rebellion and people would still give me ****.

What are you doing was probably the only thing I remember from the 8 billion releases of skyrim

The guards. They make comments regarding your stats and certain questlines you've started/finished, particularly the guilds one's.
You're right as far as meaningful interactions or changes with NPCs because of you deeds mostly nobody cared, but the guards would never shut up.
The only exception I could think of is if you did the civil war quest you could skip a certain part of the main the quest.

Yeah this was a problem in skyrim too lmao, Morrowind had a little bit more recognition

I am pretty sure a peasant wouldn't recognise his King, they didn't have TV and glamour magazines.

That's why they needed fancy clothing and heralds and stuff.

PS
And most importantly, coins.
