So what's the worse situation you been in? As for me, I'm the leader of the rebel army of Swadia. Problem is, there's almost no Swadia left and I lost the 2 castles and city I had. I got about 25 knights with anoher 15 of lower ranking troops (being worked up to knights) and I got less then 10k. So I'm going to have to keep fighting and winning and trading just to keep up with the 1k each week for the knights, which will be about 2k by he time I get the others up to knighthood. By then I should be able to take a castle with about 100-200 troops in it with my knights. Which is the only way the defecters from Swadia that have joined me will follow me on a crusade (I start one, but tey just run all over the place) and now they're defecting to other empires which means by the time I take over Swadia most will prabably be gone, leaving me with about 4. (I have about 7 right now) and I'm at war with 2 other empires (no way in hell am I going to pay that peace price) so even when I take Swadia, I'm going to have to fight them 2. The only good thing about this is that the Khagets is fighting one of the empires that's at war with me. Not sure if they're fighitng the other one I'm at war with. I'm at war with the Rhodoks and they have taken about about 30% of the map. The nords is the other empire I'm at war with, and they seem and they got a castle right at the back of Khaget territory! The only way I can see of holding them all off is if I got isolated castles in more peaceful places (such as that nord castle near Halmar and Ichamar). Even after that, I need more lords.

Hmmm... Does anyone know a way of getting other lords to join you other then being a rebel of a faction and trying to get them to join you in the faction you're fighting?

Anyways, post your worse situations.

After losing a siege against a rhodok castle i decided to go and recruit some more troops and about 3 lords closed in on me from nowhere, I lost the rest of my troops then.

i used 200 vaegir marksmen (and some random vaegir dismounted knightes and infantrymen) for an attempt to take over sargoth (garrisoned by +/- 350 men)

first i expected the archers to do wel versus nord archers (i did keep in mind there were huscarls up there, so i was trying to be careful with my soldiers) instead they got decimated, nord archers seem to do pretty good >< and those flying throwing axes were an absolute nightmare...

I saw some Nords coming for the Castle on the Swadian Nordic border, this also is the castle that's tied to my village, so I attacked them. I won but lost many of my higher tiered troops as there were three armies attacking and they had a siege tower.
After which I realized that my village was so poor and useless that I would actually be richer without the place .

Lessee...

Worst situation for me was in Native Expansion mod.  I held exactly one castle and about seven days into trying to stabilize my 120 troop army so I could go take another, Larktin and about 1300 dark knights showed up on my doorstep and they weren't stopping for a spot of tea (they brought a flag).  Granted, I did take the castle from them to begin with so I kind of had it coming

Another fun one from Lords and Realms:  I had just joined the Swadians and noticed that one of the useless lords had holed up in Kelredan and were being sieged by about half of the Nordzerg about 500 strong.  I, cleverly I might add, decided to come to their aid...trailing the rest of the Nordzerg (for no particular reason, I assure you).  "Nah, they're not going to attack us," I tell the Swadian lord.  "They're really more frightened of us than we are of them.  Besides, they only outnumber us 10:1!"  Two and a half ours of epic fighting and Kelredan falls to the Nords.  A sad tale, indeed, but only because I ran out of arrows.

I attacked the lands to the far Southeast (it's basically secluded from everything else like an island but attached by a bridge). Which is Nord territory and I had JUST resigned from the Faction pissing the King off. Of course I make the attack, claim the lands and they return fire by sending about 4,000 men my way.

I defended two or three sieges, then went on the offensive and wiped up what was left. When it was all over my negative faction was beyond repair and the attacks just came in even stronger.

It's one of those situations that makes you contemplate whether or not you should re-load a saved game before you first fought and go a different course. Let's just say that I stopped shortly thereafter playing that game, and began a mod.

Investing every last denar in a trade load of iron and being too slow to outrun the bandits on the way to the destination.

Ten times in a row.

... to the same group of bandits.

..... on the same trip.

I was going by with 200 men when I saw one of my factions cities under attack by some Khergits. I ran over and waited in the city till they attacked when another 10 Khegits Lords appear out of nowhere. Being Khergits and me being Nords I couldn't out run them, and being Khergits they all had bows so I couldn't deploy myself anywhere useful without being randomly shot dead halfway through the battle. I kinda stopped playing for a while after that happened.

Yikes.

This makes me wonder, since smaller parties travel faster than larger ones,  is there any way to drop off some of your forces someplace and travel "light" for this very purpose?

You can drop off troops at a castle or city that you own, but then you would have outrun the bandits to a place where you wait them out.

Your other option, depending on how much slower you are than the bandits, is that you can begin to dump your inventory, rather than lose soldiers in a hopeless fight.  You would lose money, but without the troops, earning the money back is harder.

To have prevented this though, keep extra horses as pack horses.  The speed of the horses doesn't matter if they're in your inventory.  Also put points, or get a companion with lots of points, in path-finding.

Very interesting question.

I once started off surrounded by 5 groups of looters. Got about 3 of em then got captured due to the stupid arrows .

They took me for a little walk around and stole almost everything (but my boots!). They dropped me off in the north. Got attacked by a band of sea raiders and got taken away again.

They dropped me off in Swadia where I got chased by a band of forest bandits. I spent about 15 denari (all of it) on a house so they would go away and they did.

I found out there was a tournament at Nara which was the closest to me at the time, so I went there only to be chased, attacked, and captured by a band of desert raiders. They brought me to the other side of the Kerghit territory.

I ran to the rhodoks only to realize they couldn't protect me for crap so I ran to swadia and took refuge in a castle. A bunch of rhodoks came and sieged and stole the castle. Ugh.

I then got captured by Forest Bandits and taken to Nords.

Then I got 10 denari, recruited a Nord, and am now controlling half the world on level 33 with my Nordic army. ^.^ I love happy endings.
