friends not helping in sieges

i have 2 lords accompanying me yet when i siege a castle they do not join me... ?

are you referring to warband or the original too? how am i supposed to take over things if i get no help vs 300+?

What are those friends doing?  Are they waiting near you, riding around chasing 2 farmers?  Is it taking you a long time to build the Ladders/Tower so they got bored and left?

I just finished capturing a castle, playing as an Independent Kingdom (I'm the Marshall of course), had 2 vassal armies set to Follow me.  I waited until they finally caught up to me at the Castle, then started the Siege.  A companion with high Engineering made the Siege Ladders (thank goodness) only take 6 hours to build and my vassals never moved away.  When I moved in to take the castle, they both joined in.

I've had help in sieges from my Lords when I told them to follow.

nope, i told them follow me i have a plan, both said ok ill follow you, they followed me to the castle, took me 4 hours to build ladders (have 8 engineering) than when i attacked they didnt join me, they were both standing next to me, neither was chasing things.

nope, i told them follow me i have a plan,...

And the plan was, for them to send all of their troops in, absorb all the arrows/axes/swords of the enemy, then I'll stroll in and mop up the kitchen staff.

other vassal helps in my situation
I suggest them a course of action. for example I tell them to go to siege castle X
they go to castle X and will just wait outside. And I suggest them a course of action again, there will be a new choice to tell him to assault the castle now, and they will build ladder, after they have built the ladder they will assault the castle and you just simply join them

They will not join you in a siege unless you are the marshal.
