Friendly raiders?

I've been playing this game practically non-stop since I bought it, and my character has upset the Swadians a fair bit (I joined the Vaegirs) but I had never attacked any of their caravans. Tday I decided I'd raid this little Swadian Caravan I found, just to be a thorn in Swadia's economic side, and when I did I recieved a message like this one:

Relations with swadian caravans decreased from 0 to -20
Relations with swadians increased from -89 to -20

Why would Swadians stop hating me so much for raiding their caravans? That makes absolutely no sense. I think maybe the system should be tweaked a bit to prevent this sort of thing form happening.

it makes perfect sense. The swadians are in fact, highly religeous people. they encourage suffering, as it excuses them of any sin they have commited. The Swadian caravans are bringing lots of barrels of ale. the swadian towns don't want this ale, as it would cause lots of reveling and happiness, and would therefore encourage sin. If the swadian caravans reached the towns, there would be happiness and ale everywhere, which the foolish swadians would not appreciate. by eliminating the pesky caravans, you have saved the swadian towns, and therefore the swadians will now attack Dhorak keep. the resident count has to call in king yaroglek to hold a royal council at Zendar, where they will decide the fate of the sword sisters. and therefore, E=MC2.

Ok, that makes sense.

Yeah, this happens to me too. But on the other hand it seemed to sort itself out after a while. :???:

I think there might also be a bug with sea raiders. This occurred twice:

I was attacking 25 sea raiders with about 10 (swadian sergeants) when I got hit in the face with a lucky javelin (after killing all but 3). Of course it returned me to the menu but it appeared they had 22 men now, and all but 1 of my men were down. Of course I lost (darn longbows) & they walked of happily. Having recovered I took some on raider solo for experiance (horse archery is good and bow proficiency is 287) having killed all but 10 I left again and whalla! - They had the same number of men.

This dosen't occur with other troops. What is this down to? - A bug, or a really high surgery skill  (can they even use it :???: )

Anyone else got it where it says there are 70 men and it only displays about 40? (Downsized them to the right numbers )

Hmm really should have started my own thread in bug reports.... nevermind....

Caravans are their own faction, as far as I can tell.

They have different ratings towards your party then the main 'units' do.

To see this in effect, if you haven't attacked a Vaegir Caravan, but are Swadian, and HAVE attacked Vaegir units, the Caravans still show as green (they don't want to attack you).

I think the cross reference between Swadian Army Units and Swadian Caravans may either not exist or be implimented incorrectly.

Most likely this thread should be moved to a bug post for Armagan to see.

The relations should be related...if you are at war with either faction the caravans should also react accordingly...which would usually be run like hell

If the gameworld also had a dynamic economy then caravans would be a VERY reasonable target to attack...

Also, switching sides should reset your relations with caravans - otherwise it ends up with you offering to escort caravans for a price, they accept, then promptly turn tail and run away from you.

Either that or we could get a 'herding' skill ... to herd the caravan in the right direction easier.
