Friendly faction declaring war?

I started Warband as a vassal to King Ragner. Ive been with them for days but I'm level 27 now and I want to make my own kingdom. So I renounced my vassalage to the Nords in good spirits, and took a town from one of the factions they were at war with, Swadia, and started there. Almost as soon as I did, 3 kingdoms declared war on me and I had just taken the town, so of course my garrison and army wasn't massive. It was immediately taken back away from me. But that's not the issue; Vaegirs, Swadia, and the Nords immediately declared war on me. I understand why Vaegirs and Swadia did it, because in vassalage to the Nords I've sieged their towns and castles many times, taken some, and pillaged many of their villages. What I really don't understand is why did the Nords declare war on me, it irritates me. Because in vassalage to the Nords I did a lot for them and my faction relation with them is extremely high, I married one of the daughters of the jarls. And as to the lords themselves I only gained negative relations with 2 or 3 of the jarls and the rest are above 0 relation status and I'm really good friends with about half of the jarls and I all but maxed my relationship with King Ragner himself, the relation status with him is just about 80. But yet he still declared a war on me instead of allying with me which makes me believe everything I did for the Nords was for nothing. Can someone please please please shed some light on this? Because right now I'm very confused about this and honestly a little disappointed in the game itself on how it was made in such a way that a relation with a kingdom or respective lords  means ultimately nothing. I mean I never wronged the Nords in any way. Unless I did something wrong I'm not aware of that caused them to immediately declare war on me.

Also a few tips for future gameplay in maintaining my own kingdom and obtaining a steady income and whatnot would be welcome and heavily appreciated.

You will find good infos from the link.

The most crucial stat for starting your own kingdom is right to rule( http://mountandblade.wikia.com/wiki/Right_to_rule?li_source=LI&li_medium=wikia-footer-wiki-rec ). Basically this stat help you to be seen as a ruler to the kings and lords.

For ecenomy, Looting and trade skill is good. Loot enables you to find valuable and rich loot after every battle and trade skill increase the price of items when selling them. In each town there are enterprices you can invest and each week their income will be delivered to you. Once you have open them in each town the sum income of them will be around 10000 denars for native.

Faction relations go out the window once you're independent. Friendly lords will be less likely to raid villages you own, but you're still on your own; small, weak, an easy target, and a threat to all the other kingdoms. It's nothing personal, just politics.

I have read about this right to rule thing everywhere on the forums, but the wiki said something about how despite popular belief RTR actually has no effect on a declaration of war or not. I guess the only way to tell is to boost mine high as I can, and try another test kingdom afterwards. On the topic of RTR wgere do I go in the game to view mine?

My RTR is 72, I was still immediately declared war on  :sad:, by King Ragner who's still my friend  :cry: :cry:

@Aceus
Note that Right to Rule has no impact on whether or not other factions declare war on you in Warband.

This quote is from the link I shared about RTR. So please read it.

The higher your right to rule is, the more likely lords will be to see you as the real king and even join you.

This is also from that link. So basically it is what rtr really help you to do.

Out of curiosity, what was the location that you decided to take?  Dhirim?  Reyvadin?  Something else entirely?

I chose Reyvadin, wanted to take the poorest city in Calradia and make it a jewel in this godforsaken land

Not that it's as bad as Dhirim is, but there is that chance that Reyvadin has changed hands over the course of your game.  If the Swadians and Nords at some point held it as their own, then it's possible that they're just taking advantage over the fact that you're just some new king/queen who barely has their feet on the ground and wants to take it back since they have claim over the city.  After that, I wouldn't know.

Dihrim is the best town to start your own kingdom in the entire game. It's rich, enabling you to maintain very large garrison, have lot of villages (likely the most in the game), enabling you to recruit several lords right away, it have almost no bandit infestation, making it even richer and is centrally located allowing you access to any part of map and to recruit any type of soldiers you want quickly.

:smile: All very true! Dhirim also seems to be 'the shining city' every faction wants, due to all that wealth and central location. In my current game, Dhirim has changed hands so often, I think everyone has held it for a time. Now Dhirim is mine. :twisted: ...and while taking it wasn't so bad, holding it when everyone comes knocking might be more tricky. I'm not sure I'd start my kingdom there though....not as a first city anyway. I prefer backs to the wall, or at least an ocean.  :lol:

Wasn't saying that Dhirim's a bad town to get (it's obviously a great town to get with what you've said and then some).  Just saying on how many times it probably changed hands, so you can probably expect EVERYONE to want it back and declare war on you because of it.
