Hey, after playing M & B to the point where i think im going to have over used it, i am wondering if anyone knows of any good games that i can download for free. Others will benifit from this as well as myself so please add. Im not talking demos, proper fully dowloadable games and sites.

So far i have Americas Army. Well worth a try. Based of the Unreal Tournament 4 Engine, its the best online shooter around.

Ick...played it, hated it. Its fun...if you don't mind crawling through maps, peeking around each and every corner, and taking 5min just to move 10 feet. And heaven forbid if you die early by a lucky nade...you get to sit out forever and just...watch. Its like counterstrike gone wrong IMO. Nade launchers are godlike weapons of doom, and sniper rifles are the same way on some maps. And its realistic in alot of ways...you'll get sniped, and i promise, 9 times out of 10 you'll never know where it came from...but you do get to sit out for the next 8min  I saw a sniper sitting waaay back under a pile of hay, and he was almost completely hidden. And its not even fun if that sniper happens to be you...b/c you just have to sit there forever waiting...just...waiting. War of the Pansies is a more fitting title  Anyway, i'm done venting! If you're looking for a good online shooter, go pay $20 for halflife 1...tons of good mods out there, and even the original counterstrike is still VERY popular as many don't like source. All the mods are free, and there is no monthly fee or anything. They even have a rainbow6/america's army type mod if you're really wanting that type of game. Not to mention an rpg comming out soon(yes, thats right, a NEW mod for HL1!!!). But i'm not aware of any totally free online games other than AA...except little rpg's like Runescape.

One that I can think of at the moment is Soldat(http://www.soldat.pl/main.php), which is like a mix of Worms and Quake. I found it pretty fun, even though I'm not the biggest fan of DM games. Oh, and The Ur-Quan Masters(http://sc2.sourceforge.net/). This is one of my favorite games, and if you haven't played it, you should. Rather large download, but worth it.

The keyword is LEGAL.

Thanks to Pavlov for locking threads which seem to request help finding pirated games. Bad stuff and ironic for fans and forum members of game that so far is only available as a download.

Free, legal downloads? One site is this http://liberatedgames.org/

Just downloaded the Ur-Quan masters and it seems really really good. Just one question. Is there a way to search for a specific system? It will tell me to go to a system, but i have no idea how to find it, since there are hundreds.

Hmm...coordinates or something??

I know Starflight had coordinates, not sure bout Star Control (both games are 95% identical to each other)

Sorry, I have it also, but I've not done much investigating of it!

I played for a week or so, and saw that slamming my head to the wall repeatedly was much more enjoyable.

Yeah...SOLDAT!!! (Im addicted to that game, you really should try it)

Btw: graphic-noobs should not try it, they dont like it anyway

Okay, I've found a few more freeware games that I particularly enjoyed, but I know these first two aren't for everyone.

5 Days a Stranger (http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/5days/). This is a point & click adventure, and so it probably won't appeal to you. However, if it sounds interesting, I suggest playing it as it's a very short and enjoyable game. Also by the same author is 7 Days a Skeptic, which is the sequel to 5 Days, and so if you enjoyed that, this is one to play.

Deadly Rooms of Death (http://www.drod.net/) The concept behind this one is pretty simple. You are sent by the king to exterminate some pests. Sounds easy? Oh, quite the opposite. This is a puzzle game, and a clever one at that. It starts easy, but the further you get into the dungeon, the harder it gets. (Wasn't expecting that, were you? ) You will go from killing roaches, up to Goblins and 'The Living Tar'. I found this one a good time-waster.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (www.slashdamage.com) This one is a multiplayer-only FPS, like AA, but quite a bit more fast paced. The gameplay is fast and fun, and has quite a few twists on the usual FPS formula. In each map there are objectives, unique to each team, that you must accomplish. Also, there is an XP system, and depending on how much XP you have, you will achieve different ranks and abilities. The graphics are good enough to rival commercial games, at least back when it was first released. The best part about all this is that it is free, and still better than most commercial FPS'. I really liked this one, which is saying alot since I can't stand most games of this type.

Oh, and did someone say Runescape?

Everyone seems to have forgotten the quintessential free RPG, the genre defining epic, the classic that all others shall be compared to, Nethack.

http://www.nethack.org/

If you play as a knight, it's even a tiny bit like Mount & Blade.

Runescape...sucks if you dont pay the monthly fee. I never have payed it, so i dont know if its any better if you do. But if you dont pay its about as interesting as watching paint dry in slow motion.

Well, i have played runescape quite a bit. And i don't understand why you say it sucks without the monthly fee. There not a huge difference between the free version, and the payed. You basically get access to new places, more items, and stuff like it. Its kind of like diablo 2 without the expansion...so its still fun, there's just more stuff in the payed version. But the main reason i stopped playing Runescape, is the fact that it has just about the worst community i've ever seen...second only to that of counterstrike. Its dominated by little kids ranging from 10-14 years old...need i say more?

Oh, and one more thing about the Ur-Quan masters. I'm loving it, except for one little thing. The time limit. From what i can tell, its entirely impossible to beat that game your first time playing because of the strict timelimit. Not to mention it takes 90% of the fun out of a freeform game, as starting over and losing all you've gained really sucks. So my question is, is there a way to dissable this? Maybe a cheat or something that lets you play as long as you want?

They must be bale to remove the time limit, it is an open source project isn't it?

Maybe we can get Lost-Lamb to make a little mod to that game as well.
