Well, technically we drove into a town owned by our faction and only you died.
After you took your on-duty nap and we blundered into that large attack force we died yeah. But we gave them better than we took

Quite  lot of fun was had.
Unfortunately one gunner position was nicked by a pubbie tard that refused to go out, then didn't fire at the enemy resulting in the loss of one of the three vehicles. But the enemy attack was a complete slaughter and hearing their dismay in open voice comms as our three halftracks starting tearing into them out of the blue was rather amusing.

This game is amazing. Today we went on the Weekly War thingie, and we held the same bridge for nearly 3 hours. First the enemy had the bridge secured and defences laid out deep into our territory, endagering our town. We pushed them back all the way to the bridge, and then crossed the bridge. The next hour it was the bridge falling into ours/their hands back and forth, until we fortified the position across the bridge and held for another hour.

It's like a weekly event where the developers join in as well, and the outcome of the battles is written about in a devblog, with key players, pushes, roles. Also, I think the battles get into the 'Lore' of the game.

As for gameplay, you get free commendations for participating.

I played this with my brother, can confirm that it is enjoyable. We found a boat load of scrap and slowly walked back to town, after a rather long time we figured out that the scrap can be made into resources, which can be used to create guns n ****. So after we each had a rifle, an SMG, ammo, and every fence in sight upgraded, we decided to fill up on resources again and slow walk our asses over to the next town to visit a vehicle factory. Naturally I walked all the way over there only to get shot in the face because I had my rifle put away. My brother managed to build a transport truck, only for the guy standing next to him to immediately lock it, and promptly walk away, rendering the truck useless, and in the way.

I was somewhat excited to see TheFlyingFishy, esquire. join the server, only to figure out it was just "Fishy's ***** ass brother".

From personal experience (in the demo), combat side is pretty easy to get into, you just move your character to the front and there's usually a supply depot set up by friendly forces which will be stuffed with rifles and ammunition. Getting good at combat on the other hand is a different matter.

There's also the logistical part you can take part in, often includes mining resource lumps that spawn in certain areas, refining those resources to make arms/vehicles which in turn are shipped to the front. Communication is required though comes in plentiful amounts due to ingame voice chat and a text box in the bottom right of the screen.

Play with friends and you'll have zero problems.
You'll fail together, you won't have to grind as long if there isn't a supply depot maintained by someone else and occasionally you'll succeed together.

Controls are easy to learn, there are some tricks to combat that will take time to master like wiqqum said (when to crouch, when to prone, when to charge, combined arms) but you'll learn those fast enough by failing.

I've been having great fun with this on the few occasions that I've played it this week. Had one annoying troll incident; I pulled up to the factory in Blackwater with my truck that I built, wanting to process some scrap and sulphur, when this French guy who had apparently been waiting for just such a truckload hijacked it while I was outside. With typical Gallic arrogance and surliness he slurred something about being important and being able to do what he wanted and needing to take it to the frontline, and after failing to maneouvre around me (I was telling him to get out and so on) a few times he just ran me down. Apart from the fact that both tking and truck stealing are major sins in this game, the materials hadn't been processed. This was on a map called Fisherman's (I forget the second word) and we had only got one other town, which didn't have a factory, so he wasn't even going to be benefitting anyone with his theft. I found the truck steaming outside the gate of the southern town that we held some time later, all the stuff still inside (as far as I could remember). While I was perusing the contents and starting to fix the truck (it was steaming because he had crashed it) another truck pulls up with guess who in the driving seat. No idea if this was another stolen truck or not, but fortunately he (think his name was Swid or similar) got out to open the gate and I nailed the bugger in the back with most of an SMG mag; I got killed by a teammate who understandably must have thought me a simple troll, but it was worth it.

I have no clan or mic but am usually able to make myself useful and have a good time. It was the first occasion last night that I tried being a medic, and I found it rather rewarding. You can carry a trauma kit in slot 1 and a first aid kit in slot 3 whilst still having space for a pistol with plenty of ammo in slot 2.

Things have changed a lot since I last played the game before this week; a few months back when the game was free you could spend ages at a scrap site mining, whereas now you can clear it out in 30 seconds and it won't respawn for ages. It seems to work pretty well though. Now there are more cool vehicles to use too; light tanks and large machine guns that two people wheel around. Much like the artillery, the latter has a large shield offering a lot of protection to the front but needs two men to move it and the arc of fire is rather narrow, meaning it can be outflanked if enemy infantry is able to react fast enough, so it is far from being overpowered and needs escorting by other infantry (although the only time I came across the enemy using one, I was a bit preoccupied and I had barely realised that they were the enemy before they shot me).
