Mage246

I know this has been mentioned before, but when I sent Marnid to wait for me at Four Ways Inn, he disappeared and was never seen again :(. Is there any way to get him back??? If not, this is a very serious bug with the Inn, one which should be fixed ASAP.

Okay I'm trying to figure out if I can use the unofficial editor to get him back... can anyone help me figure this out?

I would love to help you, Mage246 ... but I have no idea why you are having this problem.

As far as using the unofficial editor to replace him ... :blank stare:

I hate not being able to help ... sorry.

I'm guessing whatever bug is making the Inn look like a frozen wasteland is the same bug that is preventing Marnid from showing up.

IM pretty sure its just a matter of getting the four ways inn file from version .702 and replacing the one in .703. Ill try it tonight for the mag7 bug hunt, its a problem there too.

If you turn on the editor in the wasteland youll see 30 or so entry points. It almost looks like someone was setting up an ambush around the player. Probably some experiment Armagan did and then mistakenly put the file in .703.

EDIT: tried it, it doesnt help. Its still a moonscape even with the .701 version of 4 ways inn pasted over it.

What about recreating the NPC? Is there some way I can recreate Marnid and place him somewhere else for me to rehire? Even if it means losing all of his levels/equipment, it would be worth it.

Would this even work for an existing save, or would any changes affect only new games?

Create an entry point in the four ways inn, set the variable on the entry point to XX, then go in the editor. Set Marnid's Site to Four Ways inn, and set his entry point to XX. The next time you go there, marnid will be standing where you placed the entry point. You can also use the editor to change his stats, items, and whatnot.

I tried doing the entry point thing, but that didn't work.... I couldn't figure out how to change the number of the entry point, since the default seemed to be "0". I tried using an entry point value of zero when choosing where the unit "Marnid" is located, in both Four Ways Inn and Uxkhal tavern, with no effect. Given that Marnid already exists (even though the game has "lost" him), I think I have to create a "clone" of Marnid before the game will create this unit.

Just for the record, I also lost Marnid this way. I parted ways with him just outside the four ways Inn and he wasn't there even a week later.

Not exactly what we are talking about.... Unless you chose the option: "wait for me at Four Ways Inn", that is. Leaving a hero outside will often result in that hero being forced to leave the spot you left him in, in order to avoid being attacked by enemy groups.

Same problem here I'm afraid.

I told Borcha to meet me at the Four ways Inn so I had room for the kidnapped girl in my party but he never turned up. I knew his eyes were too close together.

I got hit by this bug too. Marnid is long gone. Told him to wait at the Four Ways Inn, and when I got there, the place looked like it got nuked... maybe he was there when the bomb went off? So much for my party healer. I haven't seen Armagan post on this thread... is he aware of this nasty bug? I've read that folks have played in the editor...with no success. I hope the fix won't involve neophytes like myself going under the hood in the game to fix it!
