Fountain Pens

And look where that got you.

I hate pens, my handwriting is already horrible enough. When I write with a pen I act like I'm writing in cursive or a foreign language.
Pens or fountain pens?
There's a difference, ya know.
Well, there isn't but I get the impression pen reffers more to ballpoints.

We almost always have to write long hand in classes at school and only use computers in Information technology and for homework at home.

I misread the topic.

In other news, I quite like fountain pens. As a left-handed person I get ink all over and smudge the text til it gets unreadable though.

Well, you could try writing so your hand is facing up but that might facilitate rotating your surface some 45° degrees or something.
Alternatively, you could do it like Leonardo. Mirrored.

Yeah, there's one school over in the general area here where they're trying tablets or laptops out. Not sure which.

Pretty sure they'll have to reimplement calligraphy classes if that doesn't get pulled.

I'm left-handed and up until last semester I wrote almost all my uni notes with my beloved aluminium fountain pen. I don't smudge, I only have a bunch of green ink spots on the side of my palm (green because I'm too fancy for using the standard blue). I guess I don't drag my hand across the paper, just either hovering or resting it. and now I use a biro because I only have one subject per week where I'd take notes, so a fountain pen'd dry out.

I usually try to keep my palm below the text and simply extend my index finger and thumb. Works for a while until my hand magically gets drawn too close to the text. I might also start doing it the mirrored way just for some coolness points.

We get to bring our own laptops to school. Not all teachers permit using them, though.

No either way my handwriting looks like gibberish with any kind of pen.

I can have good handwriting, I'm just too lazy, and pens seem to "glide" across paper so it makes me more lazy.

I write with my hand above the text to get around the pesky binder rings.
hurr durr I have lefty college blocks that have the rings opposite of the punches.

Well, then you're just incompetent.
Hell, I can form readable sentences.

Excuse me, but my handwriting is an illegible mess to other people and I like to consider myself at least somewhat competent. In fact, I think I could go for being a doctor with my scrawls...

And when you flip the page over?

Ink ran dry today. It's a testament to how bloody heavy the course is, running through a cartridge in half a week..

Does your ring binder not open or something? Is the paper stuck inside it forever?

It's actually a spiral ring notebook. So yes, unless I feel like carrying around several hundred pages of notes. Which I do not.

And I got new cartridges today, I can relax easy before the upcoming midterm.

How big are the spirals?

I'd think they'd be plastic and soft enough not to cause discomfort on your hand.

As wide as Seff's penis, and metal.
They're just in the way when I write, no huge biggie.
