TLDR: Help me change my mind. I don't understand some forum rules regarding old posts, but want to and will comply regardless.
Hello there! I have little activity on TW forum despite having visited it for several years. I admit I'm a bit of a dum-dum regarding furum's criteria (read: rules), and I want to be wololo'd about it.
I'm playing a lot of BW and VC, old games, naturally. So it's only natural to come across several posts dating from several years ago. Ranging from questions to conversations that I'd like to engage but last post is from, say, 2017 if not earlier. Rummaging through the forums form example, I happen to find unanswered questions around 10 years old for which I have the answer OP is looking for. Of course the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure ) is to open a new thread and not post on threads too old. However in my humble opinion I don't believe the question involved deserves a new thread since it's a simple "question-answer" petition. This is what I'd like to be wololo'd.
O top of that, I found an explanation of a mod in a "force-edited" post (maybe the user said something inappropiate, since it was banned) saying "OP will probably not see it, it's been too many years". While reasonable, and with the authority of a mod saying it (hey come on, a moderator if a figure of authority) I found myself asking "but yet after many years I am here; and I had this question in the past."
Another thing I'd like to be wololo'd about is what's the need for a new thread vs answering an old thread.
I will not go against the forums' rules. On the contrary, I want to comply with full conscience. But I need a hand in developing criteria on it. How old is too old? for example: Reddit is 6 months, IIRC.
Well that is all. In case I wasn't clear (enough): I'm not complaining, I'm not saying there's anything wrong. On the contrary, I believe I am in the wrong and I'm literally asking to.show me. Most likely it's because of my, let's call it poor forum culture.
Also, Don't be afraid of doing me the maieutic. I believe there's a chance the answer is in my very own post and that I'm not seeing it.
Edit: minor wording and typos.
