Forum Account Activation Trouble

I've just registered here at TaleWorlds, *waves*

Anyway, I got the activation email, but neither of the links worked to Activate the account.
Both just gave me the main index page.  I normally use Chrome, but I tried IE also failed.
I must have accounts on at least a dozen sites that use SMF and I've not had this trouble before.

Well I'm posting now so I obviously did manage to get in
The reminder link of the email worked, so I tried that.
Asking for a reminder said I could not have one - as the account was not activated.
BUT, there is a box there that accepted the activation code.  Woot.

Before that I tried searching the forums for help or a way to contact admin here.
The search turned up no help, so maybe someone else with this trouble will find this post.

Well considering you are able to post with your account, and register your games on the site - I guess the activation was successful. I don't think it should have given you the main index page after clicking the link, but maybe that actually did activate it but just didn't show a notice. However if it is not activated, I am sure an admin will be happy to manually do it.

Thanks for the report. I just tested creating and activating a new account through the main TaleWorlds site and it all worked correctly for me, so I'm not sure why it was giving you trouble.

Did you create an account through the main TaleWorlds site or directly through the forum here?

thanks for the replies.
Yep all is working well now, it just wasn't as smooth as it should be.

I'd tried both links from the email but the first didn't activate the account (login failed afterwards), and the second link didn't display the box for manual code entry.

I made the account through the forum.

The main TaleWorlds site did actually recognise the login/password pair.
(That was something else I'd tried while not being able to activate.)

I just found the problem.  I tested again with 'forgot password'.
With the email as plain text, pasting the URL directly works fine.
Viewing the URL through a web interface, the link can be url-encoded.  The ';' become '%3b'.
A GET request should be url-decoded before parsing the params, so that shouldn't make a difference.

Thanks Sir Prince.  Cute!  My daughter loved that pic.
No thank you, I was going through my old photobucket album and wanted to post it again for the lulz and you're thread was right on time!

I recommend keeping the language censor on for the forum though if your daughter is looking at it and still a child.

Yeah, that indeed shouldn't make a difference and the e-mails from the forum aren't sent out with the ";" character encoded anyway. Hmm. Is Hotmail perhaps mucking the links up?

Possibly, I seem to remember having the problem and I use Hotmail.
