Hey there,
Just formatted my windows drive and installed Windows 7 (It rocks!), but when I try to apply latest Warband patch it tells me that Warband is not installed on the computer and therefore must close. Both Mount&Blade and Warband are located on another drive, where I have all my games so that I do not have to always re-download them when I format.

I am aware that this is a registry issue, and I was therefore thinking if there is any workaround to this

Thank you

You keep the installed game on another drive despite the registry but dont keep the installer?
Well i dont know how to solve your problem.

What I download automatically goes to a folder I created in the Windows drive, because I never expected this to happen and neither would have you.

Aye, you would have never expected that you would have to reinstall a game and neither would i.

You are perfect in every way.  If you didn't expect it, then how could anybody else?!

Windows has a 'registry' on its associated drive, and it stores information related to programs you have installed (among other things) there.  When you reformat your Windows partition, information pertinent to running many of your applications properly is lost, and so you have to reinstall them.  Is it a good or convenient system? No, not really.  But--many of us know about it, and therefore would have expected this to happen.  You too could have known about it, since you have the internet at your fingertips.

Actually, there is a convenient way which I used today. I had to format and reinstall windows too. But MnB was on other partition. I knew that registry would be wiped out, and most programs on other partitions would not be detected as 'installed'.

What I did was: I opened registry, found MnB keys (MnB directory plus another one that has key validation), then I exported each to a file which I put on the other partition.

After windows reinstall, I simply double-clicked these two files and that was it. MnB works normally without having to install it again.

Now, the problem is, if you didn't do this before formatting HDD, not much you can do I'm afraid.

You could always send me the registry files...

I'll edit them accordingly to fit my partition drives.

Please.

Well, it's like this: activation code is coded in registry. You wouldn't be able to just edit and enter yours, because the number is not the same. This registry key is probably created on install and not on entering serial. I'm no computer expert but I think Licenturion defines and writes your "hardware hash" on install, and then upon entering the key, it types in registry coded 'activation code' based on your hardware hash and your real code.
