SP Native Formations Compilation

Hi,

I would really like to have the shield bash in my game but unfortunately the mods I love using changes variables and other stuff that makes it incompatible.

I don't know if this is too much to ask or simply not possible to do as I am new to modding and editing, is it possible that someone give me what lines I have to add into different TXT files to achieve the shield bash effect without having to replace anything.

Sorry if I am asking for too much work, just wondering if it's possible.

Thx in advance

Yo

I've a little problem with this mod, when I replace .txt files all the messages disappear (I mean, all in game indications : damages etc...)

If anyone have a solution I'll be grateful

thx

some precisions for my little problem :p

In game, in the messages log it's written

"SCRIPT ERROR ON OPCODE 1300 : Invalid Party ID:6113; LINE NO:32
At simple trigger trigger no:4
At simple trigger trigger no:4
At simple trigger trigger no:4
At simple trigger trigger no:4
At simple trigger trigger no:4"

If it can help to resolve my problem

thx again

I have this same problem. My in-battle messages are disappeared. Please help asap since I like this mod

EDIT: Oh, I think I got the reason. I started a new game with these installed to see if it makes any difference, and I didn't get any problems. I think this mod is not save-game compatible
But, is there a way to make it work with the savegames?

Sweet. Finally someone thought about compilation. Thank you, Sir!

Small thing though - It would be even sweeter if you could add py files.

As a side note: Were you thinking by any chance of creating more compilations of Native minimods? And the biggest awesomeness would be if someone would finally came up with py files with MageLord's tweaks (yes - all of them).

I know, I know - I'm a demanding kind of person....

im total noob about code stuff need help with this formation pack
first code: guy say that this need to put "under the triggers section of the "lead_charge" mission template"
where exactly ?
m8he7b.jpg

and secund code say somthing like this "Copy and past the following into the bottom of module_scripts.py:"
where is that module_scripts.py?

being that this is the a middle age era game has anyone thought to make a shield wall formation? That would be pretty sweet!

Bump? ANyone finds a solution to the save-game compatibility problem??

Btw, Pants could you please put the tournament-fixed link to the first post? I think it is in the other thread which you have put its link but putting the updated code to the first post would be useful. Bash can't be used in tournaments with the one currently in the first post.

Yo.

Let me first state that the vast majority of the work in this is not my own, but rather that of much more talented individuals. This is a compilation mod for ease of use, particularly for those unfamiliar with the module system. Credits are near the end of the post. Download is at the bottom, so I can pretend like you read this dreadfully long post I just wrote.

This is a combination of Mirathei's formations, Chel's battle morale and Mirathei's shield bash for an otherwise Native experience. Don't like one of those? That's okay, because this 'mod' comes in 5 flavors (all included):

1. Formations Only
2. Shield Bash Only
3. Shield Bash + Formations
4. Morale + Formations
5. Shield Bash, Formations, & Morale

Notes:

Shield bash should be in ALL scenarios, including training, tutorial, quick battles, and tournaments.

Formations + morale is only in the lead charge template (that is, only in the normal battles you fight on the map, not special quest stuff, villages, or sieges)

How to use shield bash:

While unmounted, hold block and press attack. Note that you must have a shield to do this (just in case somebody missed that.. somehow..). Does not work on mounted soldiers.

How to use formations:

(Quoting Mirathei) "Controlls: use the default native controlls to select cavalry, infantry, or archers. Use j to order your troops to form ranks, k to order a wedge, u to bring them out of formation, or p to order them to form a line. Use the default native commands for movement (ie. hold, follow, charge, advance), including the tactical minimap."

Installation instructions:

1. Extract the archive anywhere you can find it.
2. Pick the modification that you like.
3. Make a copy of your Native folder.
4. Copy all of the text files from the folder you want into the copy of the Native folder you made, overwriting all (NOT you real Native folder!)
5. Enjoy.

The bulk of the fine work here was done by the talented folks above, the work on my behalf is just the convenience of the compilation.

FAQ

  • Q: Is this mod compatible with other mods? A: That depends. It should be compatible with any mods that modify just the item kinds file, the troops file, the map, textures and graphics, or sound. Any mod that modifies the game mechanics, such as the scripts or mission triggers, will not work with this, however.
  • Q: What modifications can I apply to this? A: As listed above, anything that modifies the troops, items, parties, sound, music, map, or textures should be okay.
  • Q: Can I apply any/all of The Mage Lord's tweaks to this? A: Yes, you should be able to apply the vast majority or all of his text file tweaks.
  • Q Can I have the python source code so I can build my mod around this? A: Yup. I'll be releasing all of that soon, if i haven't already.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in this thread and I will answer them as promptly as I am able (and add the question to the FAQ, if pertinent)

Enjoy.

This should be stickied or something. Or some thread just for source codes for modding.

RogueHunter place this in your mod list.

Two questions before I install this:

1. Is it Native compatible (both the Shield Bash AND the Formations)?
2. Is it save-game friendly (from Native)?

1) Yes, native compatible. I tried myself.
2) No, not save-game friendly. I tried this myself, too  I posted two posts about it, the error messages I get and so on but noone seems likely to find a solution to it

Exporting my character and starting a new game with him solved the problem, but it would be excellent if it worked in my current game.

Step 4... Do you have to copy all the files for Shield Bash + Formations + Morale?

Thanks

Edit: or for Shield Bash only.. (I'm trying to use Ryuzaki's animations on another mod: will I need to copy .txt's other than actions?)

Is there a download of this same formation kit but where the player only can use the them.

And with the text of your orders and units you select brought back...

This mod it's a good idea, but why there are files in the archive that we don't need for this mod?

I mean. For example "sound.txt" it's the same as native but it's included so if I install this mod after Cry of War, Cry of War will not work, even if it's compatible, only because you added too much useless files.

Pay attention...I very happy you made this mod, but I wish it's possible to know wich files we don't need...

Yesterday I found another mod that I want to install:

"Calradia Map Refinement".

To install it I need to replace "map.txt" and "parties.txt".

But parties.txt it's already included in this mod. So I tought this two mod aren't compatible. But I compared "parties.txt" of this mod and the one of native Mount & Blade. They are the SAME.

So "parties.txt" it's not needed in this mod...and "sound.txt" too.
