Forging weapons

I have always loved watching people forge weapons and I was thinking that it might be an interesting idea to be able to forge weapons and armor in Mount&Blade.  You of course would not be able to make top notch equipment, but it might be a little bit easier than buying equipment if you are low on denars.  Here is what you would need to do.
                              1.  Have some skills in engineering (obviously).

                            2.  Have resources like iron, furs, etc...

                            3.  You would be required to dedicate time while camping to construct equipment.

                            4.  The quality of your forged equipment depends on you engineering skill.

                            5.  Selecting what you want to make.

You may not always have a desired outcome though.  It may be rusty, crude chipped, etc...
I just think that it may be an interesting thing to do to maybe have you own creations deciding the length width damage and what not.  This may be a bit complicating, but it would be cool.

Yeah, something like this would be awesome. But it shouldn't be able to do when camping. Only in cities.

Thats one of the things I adore from Gothic II - wondering the streets and seeing the people go about their lives but, unlike the so-called AI of oblivion, actually DOING things.  Like a smith and his apprentice making weapons for the paladins during the day.

I personally don't think I'd do forging in M&B, but I know that I would love the option and I think having this kind of proof of life in the cities would be such an incredible boon to the atmosphere of the game.

Gothic II's main town is a brilliant example of how to built atmosphere - and the more options for job the NPCs and the player can do in these environments the better.

Sorry thats only half on-topic.  Just take it as a support for anything that promotes exploration of the world rather that being wholy focused on killing stuff for "phat-lute".

I thought Creeper had Fat Lute?
But yes on topic aswell... Would be great (and as i say before, even in M&B 2) to have some actual AI in this game. AI for now is adequate but... The enemies AND your allies seem to have no level of fear, intelligence, or courage. They just charge head long in without thinking. I mean, the black smithing would add a nice FEEL of some life to the game. Maybe have a apprentice in zendar for example that makes decent to cruddy weapons. And his master in Jeykla who makes amazing qaulity items. A good crafting system incorporated into main M&B would be nice. I'd also love to see you able to use black smithing along with wood work to make instruments. Maybe play for the king and based and persuasion and charisma.. Gain some disposition and be a Lord/Bard?
